    Abstract: A label-sensing method includes the steps of aligning a sensor to an exposed portion of a strip of release paper that supports a row of labels, switching the sensor to a setting mode, determining whether an existing threshold is to be used for the roll of labels, transferring an existing threshold to the sensor if an existing threshold is to be used for the roll of labels, using the sensor to scan the exposed portion of the release paper and produce a sensed value if no existing threshold is to be used for the roll of labels, and calculating a threshold based on the sensed value, storing the threshold and transferring the threshold to the sensor.

    Abstract: A method for upgrading an automatic testing system includes electrically connecting at least one pogo pin attaching device to an expansion instrument and a pogo pin of a pogo pin interface of the automatic testing system wherein the pogo pin attaching device comprises at least one metal attaching member and at least one cable, each of said at least one cable having two opposite ends, a first end electrically connected to the metal attaching member and a second end electrically connected to the expansion instrument, and the metal attaching member attaches to the pogo pin. In response to operating the automatic testing system, electrically connecting the pogo pin to a subject so that a measurement path is established between the subject and the expansion instrument through the pogo pin attaching device, wherein the measurement path is configured to connect signals for upgrading the automatic testing system.

    Abstract: A method for controlling a light source of a liquid crystal display (LCD) device includes dividing each frame of image to be displayed into a plurality of areas and obtaining a first brightness value of each area. Any difference between the first brightness values of any two adjacent areas is determined to be less than or greater than a preset threshold. If greater, the first brightness value of at least one of the two adjacent areas is adjusted to be a second brightness value, so as to increase the difference in brightness between the adjacent two areas. If less than or equal, the second brightness value of each area is rendered equal to the first brightness value. Light intensity or brightness of the light-emitting elements is thus adjusted for a high contrast display of areas where this is required.

    Abstract: A chip on film (COF) to automatically allow for a shifting in the positions of conductive pins connecting the chip and a display panel includes pins sequentially arranged along a first direction and spaced apart from each other. Each pin includes a first end and a second end, and each pin defines a virtual extension line extending from its first end to its second end. The virtual extension lines of at least some of the pins obliquely converge on a reference line that is perpendicular to the first direction. A display panel includes pins which are created and installed to match the pins of the COF. A display device and a method for designing, creating, and installing such pins are also provided.
