  • Patent number: 8798571
Abstract: The present invention relates to a power management method for portable computers with a wireless device and detects the electric power source of a portable computer through a power source detection circuit during the operation of portable computer. In addition, any one of the following is dynamically changed: the supporting rate of the connection interface between a wireless device and the portable computer, the data rate between the AP (Access Point) and the wireless device. Moreover, the invention provides a plurality of input methods for triggering the power saving modes of the portable computer to achieve the object of reducing power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20060007126
Abstract: A wireless peripheral and control method for supporting legacy keyboard inputting. The wireless peripheral includes a wireless interface device (like a wireless keyboard) and a corresponding wireless receiving dongle. The dongle can be selectively connected to a wired input port (like a PS/2 port) or a universal connection port (like a USB port) of a host of the computer system, and the dongle has a firmware advanced control module for decoding signals of the wireless interface device to signals formatted for the wired input port. When the wireless peripheral is used for BIOS setting of the host, the dongle is connected to the wired input port, thus the advanced control module can be enabled to support a legacy input functionality of the computer system.

  • Patent number: 6954807
Abstract: The address of a data packet to be transferred from a memory to a network interface card within a direct memory access (DMA) is checked. First of all, the address of a descriptor corresponding to the data packet is read from the memory, wherein the descriptor contains information of the address of the data packet. Then, whether the address of the descriptor complies with a certain rule is determined. If the address of the descriptor does not comply with the certain rule, an interrupt signal is asserted to a processor to perform a corresponding interrupt service in order to re-read the address of the descriptor.

  • Publication number: 20050186936
Abstract: A wireless system has a host and a wireless peripheral, such as a cell phone and a corresponding wireless handset. When the system is in use, if a wireless connection between the host and the peripheral is disconnected, the wireless peripheral is capable of alerting a user by sound, light or vibration alarm. In addition, the host is capable of generating sound, light or vibration to indicate its location when it is disconnected.

  • Patent number: 6901538
Abstract: A method, system, and recording medium of testing 1394 interface card are disclosed in the present invention. A plurality of ports for the 1394 interface card to be tested are respectively connected to ports of a reference 1394 interface card through cables. One port of the 1394 interface card to be tested and one port of the reference 1394 interface card are in enabled condition and the others are in disabled condition. Only a reference 1394 interface card and two PCI slots are used, the testing process is simplified, and the probability of testing error is decreased.

  • Patent number: 6868522
Abstract: A communication module coding a first original header signal as a first check signal by a first coding means, and outputs an output header signal by whitening the first original header signal and the first check signal with a clock code according to a second coding means. A method for the communication module includes obtaining the output header signal; generating a guessing clock code; dewhitening the output header signal into a second original header signal and a second check signal by a third decoding means with the guessing clock code; utilizing the first coding means to form a third check signal from the second original header signal; and comparing the third check signal to the second check signal. The third decoding means decodes the output header signal into the first original header signal and the first check signal while the guessing clock code is substantially the same as the clock code.

  • Publication number: 20040209658
Abstract: A wireless headset for triggering a mobile phone in a mobile phone system to signal a location of the mobile phone and corresponding methods. A user can access incoming communication of the mobile phone through the wireless headset, and the wireless headset includes a control interface for making the wireless headset transmit a radio control signal to the mobile phone, such that the mobile phone will make predetermined sound or vibration to signal its own location.

  • Publication number: 20040183785
Abstract: An input apparatus for an electronic system with a plurality of hosts. Each of the input apparatuses and the hosts has a radio module. Each radio module has a unique identity and is capable of transmitting and receiving radio packet signals. When the radio module of a host receives a packet including the identity of the host, the host will resolve information in the packet. If the host receives a packet including an identity of another host, the host will discard and ignore the packet. The input apparatus also has an input interface, and stores the identities of the hosts. A user can select a host identity with the input interface, and the radio module of the input apparatus will transmit packets including the selected identity and commands inputted with the input interface, such that the host corresponding to the selected identity will receive commands inputted by the user without interfering with other hosts.

  • Publication number: 20040067694
Abstract: A plug-socket connector for connecting a bus device of a data-processing system and a peripheral device is disclosed. The bus device includes a control chip. The plug-socket connector includes a plug element, a connection port, and a socket element. The plug includes a plurality of pins electrically connected to the control chip and arranged in an array having a vacant site wherein at least three sides of the vacant site are adjacent to other pins. The socket element includes a block and a plurality of holes arranged in the same array and respectively corresponding to the vacant site and the plurality of pins in position so that the plug element and the socket element would not be assembled in a wrong relative position.
