  • Patent number: 9768861
Abstract: A short-range wireless communication converter of an input device has a micro-controller unit (MCU), a first-protocol connection port, a second-protocol connection port, a protocol signal converter and a short-range wireless communication unit. The first-protocol connection port is connected to an input and output (I/O) terminal of the MCU. The second-protocol connection port is another I/O terminal of the MCU through the protocol signal converter. The MCU is further connected to the short-range wireless communication unit. When a wired computer input device is connected with the first-protocol connection port or the second-protocol connection port, the output signals can be wirelessly transmitted to a paired computer through the MCU and the short-range wireless communication unit so that the wired computer input device can be converted to wirelessly input data to a paired computer compatible with a specific protocol.

  • Publication number: 20050289336
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for switching among multiple initial execution addresses in computer systems. The purpose is to efficiently select a code segment for initial execution after booting. A switch signal and a reference address are read, and then an initial execution address is picked from several possible addresses based on the switch signal and the reference address. The advantages provided by the present invention are reducing the booting time, independently upgrading BIOS and enhancing competitiveness.

  • Publication number: 20050050313
Abstract: A method of turning on a computer includes providing the computer with a hard disk drive and a switch, and storing a first master boot record (MBR) in a first region of the hard disk drive, the first MBR corresponding to a set of operation systems comprising at least an operation system. The method also includes storing a second MBR in a second region of the hard disk drive, the second MBR corresponding to a set of program codes comprising at least a program code, and powering on the computer. A status of the switch is then detected, and a program code of the set of program codes is executed if the switch is on a predetermined status, or an operation system of the set of operation systems is executed if the switch is not on the predetermined status.

  • Publication number: 20050015580
Abstract: A method is used for transferring a command among a plurality of devices in a computer system to operate the computer system. The plurality of devices at least include a first storage device and a second storage device, and the first storage device is used to store a first code. The method includes: (a) executing the first code in the first storage device; (b) after step (a), executing an examining process before the first storage device transfers the command to the second storage device; (c) after step (b), if the result of the examining process is correct, the first storage device transfers the command to the second storage device to operate the computer system; and (d) after step (b), if the result of the examining process is incorrect, the first storage device does not transfer the command to the second storage device.

  • Publication number: 20050010746
Abstract: A method for building an ACPI architecture according to an ID code of a device connected to a bus during the booting period of a computer system. The method includes: (a) storing ASL codes of a plurality of the same type of devices in the BIOS of the computer system; (b) detecting the ID code of the device type connected to the computer system during the POST period; (c) loading the ASL code corresponding with the ID code detected in step (b) to a memory of the computer system, and ceasing to load ASL codes having ID codes not detected in step (b) to the memory of the computer system.
