  • Publication number: 20050009402
Abstract: An electrical connector (1) includes an insulative housing (3) mounted onto a mother board, and a mulitiplicity of contact modules (7) received in the housing. The housing defines first and second openings (245, 246) in a front portion thereof. Each contact module includes first, second, third and fourth contacts (80, 82, 86, 88) and a ground contact (84). The first and second contacts are inserted into the first opening to form a first signal contact group, thereby providing a first mating interface for a daugher board. The third and fourth contacts are inserted into the second opening to form a second signal contact group, thereby providing a second mating interface for another daughter board. The ground contacts are disposed betweent the first and second signal contact groups. The connector can thereby electrically connect the daughter boards with the mother board simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20040266263
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly (10) includes at least one connector (12) and a shell (14) surrounding the connector. A number of locking tabs (24) extend vertically beyond a joint face (23) of the connector. Each locking tab defines an aperture (242) and a block (243) at a free end thereof. The aperture separates the free end of the locking tab into two spaced portions. The block protrudes outwardly from an outside of one of the two spaced portions. An opening (232) under the block is defined in the joint face for facilitating the molding of the block. The shell defines a number of securing holes (411) engagingly receiving the corresponding locking tabs of the connector. The block can press an outside of the shell to retain the locking tab in the hole. Reliable connection between the connector and the shell is secured.

  • Patent number: 6390857
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a front half (2), a back half (3) assembled to the front half, a plurality of circuit boards (4) and a plurality of leading caps (10). The front half has a front surface (23), an upper surface (20), and a lower surface (21). A top tongue (7) and a bottom tongue (8) extend respectively from the upper surface and the lower surface along a mating direction. The leading caps are positioned between the top tongue and the bottom tongue. The circuit boards are mounted in the combination of the front half and the back half and extend beyond the front surface. Each leading cap includes two inclined faces (13) facing forwardly for mating with a complementary connector (11). A swallow-tailed slot (14) is defined at a rear end of the leading cap to engage with a front edge of a corresponding circuit board.

  • Patent number: 6375508
Abstract: An electrical connector assembly (1) includes a receptacle connector (4) and a plug connector (2). A plurality of circuit boards (10) each has a lower portion inserted into a corresponding groove (40) defined in a second housing (8) of the receptacle connector and electrically connecting with terminals (50, 60) therein. A front portion of each circuit board is inserted through a passageway (17) in a first housing (6) of the receptacle connector (4) and into a groove (46) defined in the plug connector and is electrically connected with terminals (82, 84) therein. The terminals of the receptacle connector and of the plug connector respectively connect to two different main circuit boards, providing electrical connection therebetween.

  • Patent number: 6210180
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises a dielectric housing, a number of terminals received in the housing, an insulative spacer and a retainer supportingly attached to the spacer. The terminals each comprise a base, an engaging end forwardly extending from the base, a neck rearwardly extending from the base, and a shoulder intermediate the neck and a leg for mating with a circuit board. The spacer includes a number of uniformly spaced apart dividers, each divider defining a pair of channels at rear corners thereof whereby defining a pair of rearwardly facing abutment walls. The dividers are interposed between the necks of adjacent terminals thereby the abutment walls bear against the shoulders of the terminals for preventing their forward movements.
