Publication number: 20250119232Abstract: Some techniques described herein provide autonomous modification of a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) of a grant for a transmission by a user equipment UE. For example, the UE may receive a grant (e.g., a configured grant) indicating a resource allocation and a first MCS for a transmission on the resource allocation. The UE may use the resource allocation for a transmission of a number of transport blocks (e.g., one or more transport blocks), and may use a second MCS, different than the first MCS, for the transmission. In some examples, the second MCS may be a lower MCS, associated with a lower modulation scheme and/or code rate, than the first MCS. Thus, a per-resource-block power consumption of the transmission is decreased by using the second MCS, which provides power savings while reducing or eliminating padding of the uplink communication.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 1, 2022Publication date: April 10, 2025Inventors: Diana MAAMARI, Peter GAAL, Prashanth Haridas HANDE, Chih-Ping LI, Mickael MONDET, Belal Salama Amin KORANY, Zhichao ZHOU, Ahmed ELSHAFIE

Patent number: 12261899Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The method may include a user equipment (UE) generating a set of multimedia packets including a first multimedia packet and a second multimedia packet that is generated after the first multimedia packet. The UE may add the set of multimedia packets to a queue and apply an uplink packet handling protocol. Using the uplink packet handling protocol, the UE may discard the first multimedia packet and transmit, to a base station, the second multimedia packet. Using the second multimedia packet, a server in communication with the base station may generate a video frame and transmit the video frame to the UE via the base station.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2022Date of Patent: March 25, 2025Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Hussein Metwaly Saad, Ravi Agarwal, Peerapol Tinnakornsrisuphap, Mickael Mondet, Hyun Yong Lee, Chih-Ping Li, Prashanth Haridas Hande, Arvind Vardarajan Santhanam

Publication number: 20240422601Abstract: Method and apparatus for delay states having variable configurations. The apparatus transmits, to a network entity, a delay status report indicating an uplink delay detected by the UE, wherein the uplink delay is greater than a first threshold. The apparatus switches, subsequent to transmitting the delay status report, from a first state configuration to a second state configuration that is different than the first state configuration for transmission of uplink data before a delay budget is exceeded. The second state configuration is a delay critical state and comprises a set of configurations for the transmission of the uplink data. Publication number: 20240356679Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) of a group of UEs may receive a groupcast retransmission from one or more UEs of the group. For example, a base station may transmit a groupcast transmission to the group of UEs. A first UE of the group of UEs may fail to receive the groupcast transmission and, in response, may transmit a feedback message via a sidelink feedback resource to a second UE of the group of UEs. The feedback message may include a negative acknowledgement (NACK) that indicates the failed reception of the groupcast transmission by the first UE, and the sidelink feedback resource may be indicated by the base station. The second UE may transmit a retransmission of the groupcast transmission to the first UE via a sidelink resource based on receiving the feedback message.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 21, 2021Publication date: October 24, 2024Inventors: Zhichao ZHOU, Seyedkianoush HOSSEINI, Chih-Ping LI, Amira ALLOUM, Mickael MONDET, Hui GUO

Patent number: 12069510Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine that the UE has received, from a network, a sufficient quantity of protocol data units (PDUs) to decode a frame. Accordingly, the UE may indicate, to the network, that the UE has decoded the frame. Similarly, the UE may determine that the network has received, from the UE, a sufficient quantity of PDUs to decode a frame. Publication number: 20240276552Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may use easily detectable transmission parameters to infer difficult-to-detect parameters for communications with a base station. For example, the base station may provide the UE with multiple sets of transmission parameters, and the UE 115 may choose from among these sets of transmission parameters for the communications. In some cases, the UE may be configured with a reference set of transmission parameters, receive one or more transmission parameters that are different relative to the reference set of transmission parameters, and then determine to use the different transmission parameters for the communications. Additionally or alternatively, the multiple sets of transmission parameters may be specified for a certain uplink message (e.g., random access channel messages), where the UE selects the transmission parameter set based on one or more characteristics of the uplink message.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 25, 2024Publication date: August 15, 2024Inventors: Gabi SARKIS, Jing LEI, Alexandros MANOLAKOS, Alberto RICO ALVARINO, Chih-Ping LI, Seyedkianoush HOSSEINI

Publication number: 20240237038Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a message indicating multiple contention-based resource sets dedicated for the transmission of scheduling requests, where each contention-based resource set is associated with one or more respective contentions. The one or more respective conditions may be associated with a packet delay threshold, a buffer size threshold, or a probability function. The UE may transmit a scheduling request to request uplink resources for the UE using a resource of a contention-based resource set based on satisfaction of the one or more respective conditions of the contention-based resource set. In some examples, a remaining packet delay budget of an uplink message at the UE may satisfy the packet delay threshold of the contention-resource set. As such, the UE may randomly select the resource, from the contention-based resource set, to use for transmission of the scheduling request.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 9, 2023Publication date: July 11, 2024Inventors: Diana Maamari, Ahmed Elshafie, Prashanth Haridas Hande, Mickael Mondet, Ozcan Ozturk, Huilin Xu, Hyun Yong Lee, Chih-Ping Li

Publication number: 20240215046Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitting device may transmit an expiration indication to a receiving device as part of a scheduling message for a transport block. The expiration indication may provide information related to an expiration time for the transport block.
