    Abstract: An image frame of a video stream is compressed area by area with at least two areas having different bit rates. When compressing an area of the current frame pixels, the bit rate information of the corresponding area of previous frame which is referred which is saved in a temporary storage device. The bit rate information of each area is inserted into the predetermined location of the compressed image bit stream to allow fast random accessing and pipelining decompressing pixels in any area.

    Abstract: A compression method and apparatus compresses the program and data for a CPU which significantly reduces the density of storage device of storing the program and the data for a CPU to execute the program. Multiple groups of instructions and data are compressed separately by a mapping unit indicating the starting location of a group of instructions and data set s which helps quickly recovering the corresponding instructions and data. In decoding, multiple instructions and data are decoded in parallel to quickly recover instructions and data to avoid running out of instruction and data in the file register. A mapping unit is used to translate the corresponding address of a group of data for quickly recovering the corresponding data for the file register file to avoid running out of data for a CPU to execute.

    Abstract: A video compression, transmission and decoding procedure includes: reducing the image data by calculating the average of a predetermined number of pixels, calculating the DCT coefficients and dividing DCT coefficients by predetermined matrix of values, and applying fixed length of code to represent the DCT coefficients. Low frequency DCT coefficients of each block of pixels are saved in a temporary storage device, should the data loss or damage happened during transmission, the low frequency DCT coefficients of the corresponding block are decoded to represent the lost data. In audio compression and transmission point, a group of audio samples are separated to be at least two sub-groups of audio samples, should any audio sample is lost or damaged, the interpolated value of the nearest adjacent samples of at least one sub-group is used to represent the lost or damaged audio sample.

    Abstract: The differential values of adjacent pixels of a group of pixels are calculated and are re-ordered by referring to the magnitude of pixels of a neighboring line. Another time of calculation of differential values of the re-ordered differential values of adjacent pixels is done and the results go through a procedure of a variable length coding. When complex pattern happened, a market code is asserted to break the calculating the differences of adjacent pixels followed by a new raw pixel data as a reference for a new group of pixel. The variable length coding only keeps the “Quotient” and “Remainder” with the “Divider” implicitly done by prediction.

    Abstract: Recovered 8×8 DCT coefficient arrays of all block of a JPEG image is formed by reversely decompressing the JPEG image till the procedure of dequantization. A method of redundancy removal of inter-block same subband AC coefficient and intra-block adjacent subband DCT coefficients is applied by re-ordering the coefficients by magnitude of the neighboring subband or a weighted sum of those. The differential values of both inter-block and intra-block DCT coefficients are calculated and coded by an entropy coder to further reduce the data rate. A short code is assigned to represent the “end of non-zero” of each re-ordered subband AC coefficients.

    Abstract: Audio compression/decompression codec is applied to reduce the data rate during wireless transmission and receiving resulting in higher efficiency of transmission bandwidth which allows scheduled time to turn on and shut off the transmission and receiving devices. The average values of a predetermined amount of audio samples within a pack of audio are inserted into the compressed audio data as references in recovering the audio data. When small amount of audio data are lost during transmission, some recovered audio samples are repeated to represent the lost data within a pack of audio data. Should the variance of a certain amount of data samples are high, some un-compressed audio data will be packed and sent out to maintain the audio quality.

The selected data samples are firstly compressed by means of ADPCM.     Abstract: An image compression method for compressing groups of pixel data, including the following steps: MSB portions and LSB portions of the pixel data are compressed separately. Further, the LSB portions are grouped according to their associated MSB portions so that similar pixels are compressed together to gain higher a compression ratio. Some LSB portions are truncated to ensure a compression ratio. When performing compression, enhanced variable-length coding is adopted that predicts more accurate dividers by considering weighted combination of adjacent pixels.     Abstract: This invention provides an efficient method of error tracking which quickly recovers the error packet of data. A side information is sent along with a normal video stream that can be used by an intermediate network node in order to improve the quality of the video transmission. The intermediate node receives the original video stream as well as the side information and uses the side information to reduce the error propagation. The error tracking is signaled from the intermediate node to the mobile phone device and the intermediate network node functions the error correction. The side information can then be used to refresh or update those areas that are affected by error concealment and error propagation.

    Abstract: An efficient motion estimation with an accurate starting point prediction and a scalable searching range is disclosed. A storage device saving MVs and SADs of an entire frame of the nearest neighboring frame and surrounding blocks is implemented. The majority or an average of MVs of the surrounding blocks and the corresponding position of at least one nearest neighboring frame is selected to be the starting point of the best match block full search. A threshold value is determined to early stop the calculation of the best match block search. Depending on the MV values of the surrounding blocks and a corresponding block in a nearest neighboring frame, pixels within a calculated scalable searching range are moved into a smaller on-chip searching range buffer from a larger reference frame buffer.
