  • Publication number: 20110043177
Abstract: In an interleaving power factor corrector, a control device interleavingly drives first and second converting circuits such that the power factor corrector generates a voltage output (Vo), and includes first and second control modules generating respectively first and second driving signals (Q_master, Q_slave) that correspond respectively to first and second control signals for controlling operations of power switches of the first and second converting circuits. A phase modulating module generates a reset signal (S_PTCL) based on an inverted first driving signal (Qn_master) and a feedback compensation signal (Vcomp) outputted by the first control module, and a reset signal (S_syn) outputted by the second control module. When one of the reset signals (S_syn, S_PTCL) has a predetermined level, the second driving signal (Q_slave) has a level for switching the power switch of the second converting circuit to an OFF-mode.

  • Patent number: 5714974
Abstract: A display device with improved color and grey scale capability employs an improved time dependent dithering technique. In the display device, each pixel is controlled so as to be illuminated for only a certain number of times during a display time period, the number of illuminations during the display period being dependent on the color or grey scale value of a corresponding pixel in an original image and a dither matrix element. After each frame in the fixed time period, the dither matrix elements are circulated to a new position, thereby introducing a time factor into the dithering technique.

  • Patent number: 5675772
Abstract: A converter interface device transforms an incompatible first central processing unit (CPU2) chip into a chip compatible with a CPU1 chip. The CPU1 compatible chip, containing the CPU2, is interchangeable with the CPU1 chip. The converter interface device allows CPU2 to appear to a computer system as having the same pins and pin configuration as the CPU 1. The converter interface device has an address converter, a data converter and a control bus converter. These converters convert CPU2 signals into signals which are CPU1 compatible. In addition, the converter interface device has a bus decoder which decodes the converted CPU1 compatible signal of CPU2 and outputs a signal to a CPU switch unit. The CPU switch unit receives an external CPU select signal, and outputs a CPU1 and CPU2 enable/disable signals. Therefore, a computer system can be upgraded from CPU1 to CPU2, without having to discard the motherboard and software associated with the older CPU1.

  • Patent number: 5577221
Abstract: An expandable ROM module adapted for use with an existing ROM interface having a predetermined number of address lines to provide an expanded memory array of variable size. The expanded memory is divided into a plurality (T) of pages and a temporary storage device is provided to store page address data. The temporary storage device includes a T-bit page selection register, which receives address input from the ROM interface, and a mapping array, which has T entries, to direct address inputs to each page. Page address data are stored in the temporary storage device via a convert-read-to-write method, which utilizes read interface and read cycle to perform write operations. Several convert-read-to-write methods can be provided depending on the number of addresses that need to be reserved and the complexity of circuitry and programming that will be involved. Examples of the convert-read-to-write methods include: direct, direct but segmented, indirect and segmented, multiple-indirect and segmented.

  • Patent number: 5480306
Abstract: A language learning apparatus using optical code as input medium is disclosed. An optical code/bar code is associated with each of a number of words, sentences, animal cries and sounds of music instruments. The pronunciations of the words and sentences, the animal cries and the sounds of the music instruments are digitalized and stored in storage memory in advance. An optical code reader is used to converted the optical codes into an associated electrical signal which is then converted into memory address pointed to the associated digital sound data stored in the storage memory. The digital sound data are then accessed by using the memory address and converted into an analog signal to be spoken out by a loudspeaker system. The digital sound data may comprise the pronunciations of more than one language so as to enhance the learning of different languages in an interactive manner.
