  • Patent number: 6792566
Abstract: A method and an apparatus of loading a pre-load seed for a test code of a physical layer device (PHY). For a physical layer device including a scrambler and a Non-Return-to-Zero/Non-Return-to-Zero-Inverted (NRZ/NRZI) converter connected to the scrambler, where the NRZ/NRZI converter receives an NRZ signal outputted by the scrambler, and outputs an NRZI signal, the method includes the following steps. (a) Determine whether a plurality of starting bits of a frame are present. (b) Repeat from step (a) if the starting bits are not present. (c) Load the pre-load seed to the scrambler and transmitting the test code. (d) Set the NRZI signal in a high level when the NRZI signal is not in the high level. On the other hand, for a physical layer device having a descrambler, the method includes the steps of: (a) determining whether a plurality of starting bits of a frame are present; and (b) loading the pre-load seed to the descrambler to retrieve the test code.

  • Patent number: 6757517
Abstract: The present invention details a novel application of wireless networking and digital music technologies to achieve coordinated and synchronized music playback among peer listeners connected by wireless ad-hoc networks. Two or more listeners in local proximity allowed by short-range wireless transmission can participate and listen to the same song at the same time. Moreover, the present invention allows listeners in the transmission range to discover each other through profile matching. A high matching score may indicate similar preference or taste to a certain music style thereby easily locating mutual interests, which would not have been possible.

  • Publication number: 20040036905
Abstract: A multi-function printer comprises a central processing unit (CPU), an image scanning unit, a printing output unit, a data transmitting unit. All units are electrically connected with a communication interface bus for data transmit, the operations of printing, scanning, faxing, and coping are controlled by the CPU. The multi-function printer further comprises an Internet interface unit connected with the bus and further connected to LAN or Internet network for doing data exchange with computers connected with the network. A data storage unit is connected with the bus used to store input data from the image scanning unit, the data transmitting unit, or the Internet interface unit in file format. A human-machine operation interface is connected with the bus for operating scan, print, fax, or scan functions directly on the multi-function printer and implementing addition, correction, deletion, and setting for sharing the file data stored in the data storage unit.

  • Publication number: 20040021888
Abstract: An office business device and a one-touch operation method are provided. The office business device incorporating the one-touch operation method includes a memory, a plurality of function keys, and a one-touch key. The function keys having predefined functions generate a plurality of setting parameters, which are stored in the memory. When an execution key is pressed, setting parameters stored in the memory are defined as one operation procedure. When the one-touch key is pressed, the setting parameters of previous operation procedures are read for.

  • Publication number: 20030031263
Abstract: A signal compensation circuit and associated method dynamically compensate for signal baseline wandering in a transmission line. The compensation circuit has a detection circuit and a correction circuit. The detection circuit first compares a transmission signal with a reference level and generates a comparison result. The correction circuit then corrects the transmission signal according to the comparison result. The compensation circuit can adjust its compensation over time based on the quality of the transmission signal.

  • Publication number: 20030026354
Abstract: This invention discloses a receiver and a signal compensation method therefor. An adaptive equalizer and a baseline wander compensator are provided on the front end of the receiver to improve the quality of output signals. The signal compensation method enables the adaptive equalizer to use a long T as its observation unit when the transmission cable is idle, and enables the baseline wander compensator for operation and controls both the adaptive equalizer and the baseline wander compensator to use a short T as its observation unit when the transmission cable is transmitting data signals. The disclosed adaptive equalizer can achieve its optimal processing effects, and the efficiency of the baseline wander compensator can be increased.

  • Publication number: 20030026334
Abstract: This invention discloses an adaptive equalizer disposed on the front end of a receiver to improve the quality of a transmission signal comprising a data signal from a transmission cable. The signal compensation of the adaptive equalizer uses a long T as its observation unit when the transmission cable is idle, and uses a short T as its observation unit when the transmission cable is transmitting data signals. This invention further discloses a baseline wander compensator worked with the adaptive equalizer during the transmitting data period of the transmission cable. The disclosed adaptive equalizer can achieve its optimal processing effects.

  • Publication number: 20020002771
Abstract: A method for making a planar inductor is disclosed. The inductor is made by using a core with high magnetic flux. Outside the substrate, a layer of insulator and conductive foil is securely mounted. Thereafter, copper traces are formed on the insulator. Before the copper traces are formed, holes are defined and metalized to provide electrical connection between conductive foils on opposite sides of the core, which forms a planar inductance. Furthermore, if the copper traces are breaking up in a predetermined location, the planar inductance becomes a transformer.
