Abstract: A first set of instructions and incoming data are provided to a first processing unit of a data driven processor, to operate upon the incoming data. The first processing unit, in response to recognizing that the first set of instructions will require either reading from or writing to external memory, sets up a logical channel between a second processing unit of the processor and the external memory, to transfer additional data between the external memory and the second processing unit. This capability may be implemented by the addition of a control port, separate from data ports, to the first processing unit, where the control port allows the first processing unit to write addressing information and mode information (including the location of the additional data) for reading or writing the additional data via a memory access unit data channel of the processor.

Abstract: The present invention relates to water dispersible steryl ester compositions that include steryl esters, an emulsifier, and a protein or lipophilic starch stabilizer. Such compositions of the invention can be incorporated into aqueous foods and beverages.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for presenting and modifying data from a set of tables in a database is provided. A view that is defined is based on a set of one or more tables that may include relational tables or object tables. The view defines a presentation of data from the one or more tables as a set of objects that reside in the database. Data is read from the one or more rows of the tables based on the view, and is presented as a set of objects that reside in the database. An object id that is based on data from the one or more rows is generated and associated with each object presented. The view may specify which columns from the one or more tables contain values used to generate the object ids. A trigger may associated with the view. The set of objects presented may be presented as objects having an attribute that is a column object. Column objects include user specified object types, collection objects (e.g. nested tables and variable arrays), or references to objects.

Abstract: A system for holding a plurality of record carriers, which are each combined with an associated insert. The system includes an apparatus with a given number N of record-carrier holders to each of which a given code is assigned; and a control device having a unit for generating the code of a desired record-carrier holder to select that holder, and a unit for transmitting the generated code to the apparatus. The control device includes a set of flat insert carriers to which the same codes are assigned as to the record-carrier holder and which are each configured to hold at least one insert and to be movable relative to the adjacent insert carrier. The control device also includes an insert-carrier detection device configured to detect the code of an insert carrier relative to which the adjacent insert carrier has been moved and to transmit this code to the apparatus in order to select the desired record-carrier holder.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing a query in a database system using index types that are not built into the database system are disclosed. Routines for managing an index structure that is not supported by a database system are generated. Data that identifies the routines are submitted to the database system, thereby "registering" the index types with the database system. In response to statements issued to the database system by a client, the database system calls the routines, causing the routines to create an index structure using data from a data container in the database, and to generate data that indicates which data in the data container satisfies a query issued by the client. The routines of the registered index type extend the indexing capabilities of the database systems and one or more such index types can be registered with the database system. The index structure managed by the routines may be maintained within segments of the database, and the segments may be accessed as index-only tables.
