  • Publication number: 20090073390
Abstract: A projector comprising a light engine, a detector, and a control unit is disclosed. The light engine comprises a light source and generates a projection beam based on the light from the light source. The space which the projection beam passes through is defined as a projection area, and a security area is defined by the projector to include or overlap the projection area. The detector detects whether a living organism is in the security area or not. When the detector detects a living organism in the security area, the detector generates a warning signal and transmits the warning signal to the control unit. After receiving the warning signal, the control unit directs the projector to enter a security mode to protect the living organism from being hurt.

  • Publication number: 20080074624
Abstract: A total internal reflection prism of a projection apparatus including a first prism, a second prism and a total-reflection-inhibiting layer is provided. The first prism has a first surface, a second surface and a third surface. The second prism has a light incident surface and a light-emitting surface opposite to the first surface. A gap exists between the first surface and the light-emitting surface. The total-reflection-inhibiting layer is connected between a part of the light-emitting surface and a part of the first surface. By setting the total-reflection-inhibiting layer, the probability of total reflection of an illumination beam transmitted inside the total internal reflection prism is reduced. Therefore, the efficiency of utilizing the illumination beam is increased and the brightness of an image is promoted.
