  • Publication number: 20070227677
Abstract: A cordless window covering having a differential suspension mechanism. The suspension mechanism is composed of a first rotary drum for winding and unwinding the suspension cord of a window covering and a second rotary drum housing a spring with one end connected to the second rotary drum and the other end of the spring connected to an axle. Rotation of the first rotary drum and at least one end of the spring are linked by a transmission system. In operation, the transmission system creates a differential rotation rate between the first rotary drum and the relative rotation rate of the two ends of the spring. In this manner, a greater length of cord can be deployed for with a shorter length of spring extension.

  • Publication number: 20070068636
Abstract: A suspension cord control mechanism composed of an arresting mechanism and a biasing mechanism operable to move a light blocking element after the user has released a suspension cord. The biasing mechanism is loaded when the suspension cord is drawn by a user to lift the window covering. When the suspension cord is released, movement of the cord is stopped by the arresting mechanism and the biasing mechanism unloads to further move the light blocking element.

  • Publication number: 20060219369
Abstract: A window covering including a plurality of panels vertically suspended from a vertical securement member is provided. The plurality of panels is secured with the securement member about an upper longitudinal portion of the panels at spaced intervals along the securement member. The panels are freely suspended or dangle from the securement member such that a lower longitudinal portion of the panels is not connected with the securement member or the opening member. A weighted edge member may be included about the lower longitudinal portion of the panels. The window covering is opened by adjusting the opening member to rearwardly and vertically stack the plurality of panels.

  • Patent number: 7021359
Abstract: A window shade comprising a plurality of collapsible shade rows. Each of the shade rows being adjustable from a closed state to an opened state by an operating mechanism, and including a stiff first transverse region and an opposed second transverse region having a stiffened edge portion. When in the closed state, the window covering includes no or minimal gaps between the rows so that light is substantially or completely blocked. Also, the securement and opening members are also concealed from view when observed from the front or face of the window covering. The operating mechanism causes the narrowing of the rows by drawing the first transverse region and the opposed second transverse region closer together. The operating mechanism further causes the rows to be pivotally rotated to further widen opening in the window covering.
