  • Patent number: 10587935
Abstract: A system includes a plurality of servers in a server rack and a plurality of baseboard management controllers (BMCs), each associated with a respective server from the plurality of servers. The system further includes a rack management controller (RMC). A first BMC of a first server determines component types of hardware components in the first server, determines a quantity of each of the component types in the first server, determines a first weight information of the first server based on the component types and the quantity of each of the component types, and sends to the RMC the first weight information. The RMC determines a weight of other components in the server rack, and calculates a loaded rack weight of the server rack based on the first weight information and the weight of other components.

  • Patent number: 9924398
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for reducing load by filtering out broadcast messages. In some embodiments, a system may receive a broadcast message at a device at a first time. The system can monitor the device until a second time when a pre-determined number of broadcast messages have been received at the device. Based on a difference between the first time and the second time, the system can determine a filtering time duration. The system can then filter out further broadcast messages received at the device after the second time for a period of time that is equivalent to the filtering time duration.

  • Patent number: 7752429
Abstract: A computer system comprising an embedded system and a main computer system is provided. The embedded system comprises a memory device and a virtual firmware hub. The memory device is for storing a boot code of the main computer system. The virtual firmware hub is connected to the main computer system. The virtual firmware hub is for reading the boot code. As the main computer system is booted, the main computer system inputs a loading command to the virtual firmware hub. The virtual firmware hub reads the boot code stored in the memory device according to the loading command and outputs the boot code to the main computer system accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20080071962
Abstract: A device connection method for connecting a host having a peripheral bus to a peripheral device by the peripheral bus is provided. Firstly, as the peripheral device is connected to a peripheral gateway, a first information signal is outputted through a communication link. Next, a virtual device is mapped to the peripheral device in response to the first information signal, wherein the virtual device is compactable with the peripheral bus. Afterwards, as the peripheral bus of the host is connected to the virtual device, a second information signal is outputted through the peripheral bus in response to the first information signal to inform the host of a connection event taking place at the virtual device, so that the host enables the peripheral bus to install the peripheral device through the virtual device, wherein the host is connected to the peripheral device through the peripheral bus and the communication link.

  • Publication number: 20080040596
Abstract: An embedded system includes a CPU, a section-swapping control device, a memory device and a section mapping device. The CPU has a boot code initializing address. The section-swapping control device detects a boot condition of the CPU and thus outputs a swap signal. The memory device includes a first memory section and a second memory section for respectively storing a first boot code and a second boot code. The section mapping device is coupled to the CPU and the memory device. The section mapping device receives the swap signal and thus maps the boot code initializing address to an initial bit address of one of the first and second memory sections such that the CPU is booted according to one of the first and second boot codes.

  • Publication number: 20050216911
Abstract: Multiple remote computers, a PXE server, a DHCP server, and a deployment server are connected to a network. An administrator assigns certain remote computers to be employed, and these computers are rebooted in a network boot mode. Afterwards, a client program is downloaded to each of these remote computers from the PXE server with the help of the DHCP server. These client programs start to communicate with the deployment server for receiving a series of multicast deployment packets. These client programs use the contents in the deployment packets to build a system environment for these remote computers. Disk images, configurations of BIOS and CMOS of these remote computers are backed up in the deployment server in advance so that these remote computers can be employed efficiently when necessary.

  • Publication number: 20040024831
Abstract: A management system of blade server is described. The system comprises at least two management blades and a middle interface. The two management blades become one master management blade to control directly the system and a slave management blade prepared to control the system when the system is turned on. The middle interface installs server blades, switch blades and the management blades thereon according to the actual request. A COM port is a main interconnecting line between the management blades and a LAN port is an auxiliary interconnecting line. The system can directly exchange the master management blade and the slave management blades by way of application software. The slave management blade is promoted to master management blade immediately when the original master management blade fails to work.
