Abstract: A memory device is described. Generally, the device includes a string of memory transistors, a source select transistor coupled to a first end of the string of memory transistor and a drain select transistor coupled to a second end of the string of memory transistor. Each memory transistor includes a gate electrode formed adjacent to a charge trapping layer and there is neither a source nor a drain junction between adjacent pairs of memory transistors or between the memory transistors and source select transistor or drain select transistor. In one embodiment, the memory transistors are spaced apart from adjacent memory transistors and the source select transistor and drain select transistor, such that channels are formed therebetween based on a gate fringing effect associated with the memory transistors. Other embodiments are also described.

Abstract: The disclosure provides an electronic device and a tracking method adapted for the apparatus. The device predefines a time period according to the requirement of a user and an alarm or information receiving party with which the device can communicate. If the device remains stationary during the time period, the device acquires a current location thereof and sends the location to the receiving party using another phone number, or an e-mail address. Therefore, the user associated with the receiving party can track and know the location of the device in real time.

Abstract: A device and a method for adjusting display brightness employed in a display are provided. Two light sensors are mounted in the electronic device in different locations and the two light sensors are configured to sense levels of ambient light at those different locations. A control unit of the electronic device constantly monitors the two light sensors to determine whether any adjustment of the brightness of the display unit is required, so as to present an appropriate display mode at all times.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a processing unit, and a multimedia playing unit. The processing unit directs the multimedia playing unit to play a stored multimedia file, analyzes picked up sounds to determine whether the picked up sounds include other sounds except for sounds generated by playing the multimedia file, obtains the other sounds if the picked up sounds include the other sounds, compares the other sounds with sounds in each stored sound recognition file, and directs the multimedia playing unit to pause playing the multimedia file if there is a match. A related method is also provided.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an electronic device and a method of monitoring the electronic device. When there is no user in the predetermined time period in the front of the electronic device, the electronic device is locked to avoid an illegal user from operating the electronic device. When there is one illegal user in the predetermined time period in the front of the electronic device, the electronic device is locked and notifies the legal user that another person is operating the electronic device. When there is one legal user in the predetermined time period in the front of the electronic device, the electronic device maintains the work state.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an electronic device and a method of turning on or unlocking an electronic device. The method includes steps: controlling the capturing unit to capture a predetermined number of facial images in response to an input for turning on or unlocking the electronic device. Acquiring a clear facial image from the predetermined number of facial images. Performing an image processing for the clear facial image to obtain a facial feature of the clear facial image; and if there is one facial feature in the stored at least one facial image matching with the facial feature of the clear facial image in the storage unit, turning on or unlocking the electronic device.

Abstract: The cover includes an interface, a bottom cover and a top cover. The interface is for connecting components embedded in the cover with the electronic device. The bottom cover and the top cover are connected by a hinge and the top cover is divided into at least three parts. Every adjacent two foldable parts can be folded relative to each other to a certain degree such that the top cover is folded to support the electronic device at a certain degree The at least three parts of the top cover includes at least one induction coil which is placed in one of the at least three parts. The top cover is folded to support the electronic device at a certain degree while the induction coil is used to charge for the electronic device.

Abstract: The present invention provides a protective shield for a plasma etcher. The protective shield 40 protects the chamber wall 30 around the etch detect window from plasma etching and electrical arcing. The invention comprises a plasma etcher 10 has a wall 30 surrounding a chamber 14. The wall has an opening 16. The wall 30 having an inside face 30A and an outside face 30B. An opening edge 30C defines the opening 16. A window 24 covers over the opening 16 and over a portion of the outside face 30B of the wall. The protective shield 40 covers the opening edge 30C around the opening 16 and a portion of the inside face 30A of the wall 30 around the opening 16. The shield 40 is composed of an electrically insulating and plasma resistant material whereby the protective shield 40 prevents the chamber from arching and generating particles and extends the lifetime of the wall 30.
