Abstract: A method for accelerating boot-up and a computer system device are provided. The method includes following steps. An adjusting procedure/program is executed, and the adjusting procedure/program includes adjusting at least one target procedure/program to be at least one delay-executing procedure/program according to a default list. After a boot-up process of the computer system device is completed, and after a default waiting period has passed, the at least one delay-executing procedure/program is executed. Since the service and/or application procedures/programs irrelevant to the boot-up process are not executed during the boot-up process, the boot-up of the computer system device is accelerated effectively.

Abstract: A vocabulary generating method and apparatus and a speech recognition system using the same are disclosed. In the vocabulary generating method, a new system vocabulary can be generated to increase the flexibility of the speech recognition system, so a user, when unsure of a system command, can use a specially defined “unknown code word” (UCW) for the undetermined part in the command.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for constructing new Chinese words by voice input is disclosed. The invention provides a method of adding new words to a speech recognition system, for example, a speaker-independent Chinese speech recognition system, for updating its vocabulary database. In the invention, voice signals indicating a description of Chinese characters/syllables are input sequentially, and feature parameters are derived from the voice signals. The feature parameters are compared with a description constraint unit to determine corresponding characters or syllables. The characters or syllables are stored in a storage unit. After confirmation by users, the characters or syllables are combined into a new word.

The method comprises: inputting a target character in a voice; generating a plurality of candidate characters including the target character based on a spelling of the target character; and selecting the target character from the plurality of candidate characters based on a description of the target character. Because the method combines the CSL and CDL mechanisms so that it can generates the accurate character.
