  • Patent number: 6543881
Abstract: This invention relates to a control method and structure of electrode device of a direct electrostatic printing apparatus which enables multi-leveled print depth on recording medium. By utilizing the electrode device with multiple electrode layers having at least an aperture passing through and corresponding to every print dot, as different level of print depth is needed, different voltage value is applied to the electrode device, thereby establishing a different magnitude of electric field and driving varied amounts of charged colorants passing through the aperture on the electrode device from the cartridge device and being attached onto the recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20030052948
Abstract: An inkjet printhead chip is installed at the nose of an ink cartridge. Its structure includes a silicon substrate, a barrier layer, and a nozzle plate. The nozzle plate is formed with two parallel rows of inkjet nozzles. Two rows of ink channels roughly parallel to the inkjet nozzles and two rows of independent control circuits are provided among the silicon substrate, the barrier layer and the nozzle plate. The ink channels are disposed between the two rows of nozzles. The control circuits are configured to be on the outer sides of the two rows of nozzles. Using this structure of ink channels and control circuits, the inkjet printhead chip allows a larger area for attaching the nozzle plate. A flexible printed circuit is used to send external control signals from both sides of the chip to the control circuits, starting ink firing elements to eject ink and form patterns or texts on a nearby medium.

  • Publication number: 20030020794
Abstract: An inkjet pen including an ink reservoir for storing ink and providing ink for jetting. A port, located on top of the ink reservoir, fluid-communicated with the ambient air, is used for adjusting the air pressure inside the reservoir. A valve, operated by a spring or a resilient element, normally seals the port, while occasionally opening the port to introduce air into the reservoir when the ink level is low and the underpressure rises. In other embodiments, an elastic bag is included in the reservoir that has an opening communicated with the ambient air through a second port formed on top of the reservoir. The elastic bag expands in response to the increasing underpressure generated in the reservoir when ink is being used. The bag expansion actuates the opening of the valve so as to regulate the underpressure.

  • Publication number: 20020089572
Abstract: An ink cartridge having a piezoelectric jet module has an ink storage module having a hollow ink storage region, a piezoelectric jet module having a plurality of ink chambers and a connection circuit, and an ink channel connected to the ink storage module and to the piezoelectric jet module. The piezoelectric inkjet printhead has a bottom film and chamber walls which are obtained by applying a photosensitive polymer on a substrate on which a piezoelectric layer has been formed and carrying out photolithography.

  • Patent number: 6302526
Abstract: This specification discloses an electrode type print head for the printing apparatus and the method for manufacturing the same. The print head is placed in the inkjet cartridge of an inkjet-printing device. The print head comprises a substrate and a flexible nozzle plate with an ink reservoir formed in between. The flexible nozzle plate is attached onto the substrate, and the electrode set of the flexible nozzle plate corresponds to that of the substrate. When currents of different polarities are provided thereon, an absorptive force is generated to pull the flexible nozzle plate closer to the substrate. A pushing force jets the ink out of the print head and onto a printing media to achieve the goal of inkjet printing.
