Publication number: 20240080773Abstract: The aspects described herein provide a user equipment (UE) for wireless communication with improved cell reselection performance A UE receives cell information for a plurality of cells and processes the received cell information to determine one or more cells of the plurality of cells having enabled power-saving features, based on an acquisition database. The UE prioritizes an order of cell selection, using the processed cell information, based on one or more cells having a largest number of enabled power-saving features. The UE then selectively communicates with at least one cell, based on the prioritized order, when the UE is in a configured operating condition.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2022Publication date: March 7, 2024Inventors: Ansah Ahmed SHEIK, Chinmaya PADHY

Publication number: 20230362767Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a user equipment (UE) may establish a connection with a network entity and transition to an inactive state in which a security context associated with the connection between the network entity and the UE is maintained. The UE may determine, based on a presence of data for transmission via the connection while in the inactive state, that one or more parameters associated with the connection meet a threshold criteria, and transmit the data via the connection while in the inactive state. The threshold criteria may be, for example, a cell energy of a serving cell associated with the connection, and an amount of data to be transmitted may be below a size threshold associated with a small data transmission.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 9, 2022Publication date: November 9, 2023Inventors: Ansah Ahmed Sheik, Chinmaya Padhy

Publication number: 20230269632Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Implementations described herein support prioritization of cells that are configured at the UE over neighboring cells (e.g., that are unconfigured) for cell reselection while the UE is in an inactive state. The UE may receive system information that indicates a cell reselection priority for evaluating a plurality of cells. The system information may indicate that the neighboring cell is assigned a higher priority than a cell of a master cell group or a cell of the secondary cell group that are configured at the UE. The UE may perform a cell reselection procedure that prioritizes reselection of the master cell group cell, the secondary group cell, or both over the neighboring cell and establish a connection with one of the plurality of cells based on a result of the cell reselection procedure.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2021Publication date: August 24, 2023Inventors: Ansah Ahmed Sheik, Chinmaya Padhy, Vishnu Namboodiri Karakkad Kesavan Namboodiri

Publication number: 20230180121Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a group of cells available for cell selection or reselection, where the group of cells includes a first subset of cells that each have at least one capability (e.g., of a set of capabilities) and a second subset of cells. The UE may assign a relatively higher respective priority to each cell within the first subset of cells than each cell within the second subset of cells based on each cell within the first subset of cells having at least one capability. The UE may select a cell from the group of cells based on the respective priority and may attempt to camp on the selected cell. Additionally, the UE may store the assigned respective priorities in a data structure at the UE.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 6, 2021Publication date: June 8, 2023Inventors: Ansah Ahmed Sheik, Chinmaya Padhy

Patent number: 10681583Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may measure a power value for each beam from one or more cells and calculate an average beam power for each cell. The UE may transmit these calculated averages to a base station in a report, and the base station may select a cell for communications based on the measurement report. The UE may also include a number indicating how many beams are used when calculating an average beam power, a ratio between a maximum and minimum beam power for each cell, two average beam powers based on two defined thresholds, or a combination of these measurements, in the transmitted report. The UE may add a bias to the average beam power for a particular cell to indicate a preference for that cell over the other candidate cells.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2018Date of Patent: June 9, 2020Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Vishnu Namboodiri Karakkad Kesavan Namboodiri, Sahas Sathyanarayana, Ansah Ahmed Sheik, Rajesh Gopala Krishnan, Theeksha Athoor Perumal, Chinmaya Padhy, Suresh Sanka

Publication number: 20180279199Abstract: Various aspects related to enabling data sharing between devices based on various parameters associated with the devices and/or that potentially affect the quality of requested service, are described. In an aspect, a first UE receives a request for a data service from a second UE, sends a report including a set of parameters measured by the first UE to the second UE, determines whether to operate as a hotspot to provide the data service based on the set of parameters, and provides the data service upon determining to operate as the hotspot. In another aspect, a first UE is configured to send a request for a data service to a second UE, receive one or more parameters measured by the second UE, determine whether the first UE remains interested in receiving the requested data service based on the received parameters, and receive the requested data service through the second UE.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 27, 2017Publication date: September 27, 2018Inventors: Vishnu Namboodiri KARAKKAD KESAVAN NAMBOODIRI, Chinmaya PADHY

Publication number: 20180098258Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. To avoid radio link failure (RLF) events for user equipment (UEs) in areas determined to have less reliable cellular communications coverage, a UE may adjust transmission of and timing for certain types of wireless communication messages, including those with measurement reports. For example, based on measurements made by a UE, the UE may modify thresholds for mobility procedure-triggering events, which may cause an inter-radio access technology (RAT) handover event to occur earlier than normal. A UE may, for example, receive and measure signals, and it may determine that a Long Term Evolution (LTE) serving cell or an LTE coverage area offers unreliable coverage. The UE may modify its operations to cause an early trigger of an inter-RAT handover event. The UE may switch to a network operating according to a different RAT before experiencing an RLF on the LTE network.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 3, 2016Publication date: April 5, 2018Inventors: Raevanth Venkat Annam, Chinmaya Padhy, Pankaj Gupta, Naveen Kumar Hanchate, Rajdeep Mukherjee
