  • Publication number: 20020098832
Abstract: A system for providing intelligent personalized customer service to a wireless terminal in a wireless telecommunication network is disclosed. Wireless terminal location is monitored and used to determine location-specific customer service information that is specific to the wireless terminal. The customer service information is delivered to the wireless terminal and displayed in human-readable form. The process is repeated as necessary to update the customer service information whenever the wireless terminal travels to a new location area.

  • Patent number: 6360265
Abstract: A Network Address Translator (NAT) processes multi-media calls between an H.323 multi-media terminal and the same H.323 multi-media server of many H.323 multi-media servers. By using the values of the TCP and UDP ports uniquely identifying the H.323 server responsible for processing a multi-media call, the NAT can calculate the identity of the proper transmission path to the same H.323 multi-media server.

  • Patent number: 6317042
Abstract: In response to an emergency event, an emergency announcement system (100) causes display of an escape route based upon a room location. A sensor (104) detects an emergency event. The sensor data (106) from the sensor relating to the emergency event is transmitted to an emergency server (122), the emergency server (122) determines the escape route and the escape route is sent to a display device (118) for use by the building occupants to escape the emergency.

  • Patent number: 6272358
Abstract: Apparatus for performing a smooth by-pass of extra Vocoders in a mobile station to mobile station connection. Vocoders are used in mobile stations using digital signals to communicate with base stations. When the vocoded signals are to be transmitted over the public switched telephone network, they are normally converted into the kinds of signals such as 64 Kb per second pulse code modulation (PCM), used in the public switched network. In accordance with one preferred embodiment of this invention, when a connection is made between two mobile units, the connection is made via a separate asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) network. Arrangements are also available to switch between the ATM network and Vocoders connected to the public switched telephone network when it is necessary to transmit a PCM signal to a land based station, or other equipment.

  • Patent number: 6198738
Abstract: A method and apparatus for completing intra-data-network calls and calls between a public switched telephone network (PSTN) and a data network. For the case of an Internet data network, an Internet Phone Register is provided to identify the User Location Service (ULS) server that stores the temporary Internet Protocol Address (TIPA) of a called terminal. Advantageously, the TIPA of any called terminal can then be readily obtained by querying that ULS server.

  • Patent number: 5771283
Abstract: A method for delivering enhanced caller identification (ID) service including geographic location information comprises initializing an originating switch with geographic identification data (GID). The GID is stored in each switch module memory, and is accessed by the originating switch each time a calling party initiates a call to a called party. If the called party subscribes to caller ID service, the calling's party directory number, and the GID associated with the switch is delivered to the called party as part of caller ID service so that the true geographic location of the caller can be ascertained.
