Publication number: 20260136426Abstract: In some implementations, a network device associated with a non-terrestrial network (NTN) may establish a connection with a user equipment (UE). The network device may receive, from a server, a message. The network device may attempt to deliver the message to the UE, wherein an attempt to deliver the message is unsuccessful based on the connection being lost between the network device and the UE. The network device may transmit, to the server, an indication that the attempt to deliver the message to the UE is unsuccessful. The network device may reestablish the connection with the UE. The network device may receive, from the UE, a keep alive message. The network device may transmit, to the server, the keep alive message. The network device may receive, from the server, the message in response to the keep alive message. The network device may transmit, to the UE, the message.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2024Publication date: May 14, 2026Applicant: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Chintankumar PATEL, Binaben Dipesh PATEL, Andrew E. Publication number: 20250350992Abstract: A device, such as a User Equipment (“UE”), may maintain a set of criteria associated with back-off timer policies. The device may determine that an attempt to communicate with the network are unsuccessful, and may initiate a back-off timer based on determining that the attempt to communicate with the network are unsuccessful. The device may refrain from attempting to communicate with the network after initiating the back-off timer and prior to expiration of the back-off timer. The device may determine, after initiating the back-off timer and prior to expiration of the back-off timer, that criteria of the set of criteria associated with a back-off timer policy have been met, and may modify a duration of the back-off timer based on determining that the one or more criteria have been met. The device may accordingly attempt to communicate with the network after the back-off timer with the modified duration has elapsed.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2024Publication date: November 13, 2025Applicant: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Andrew E. Youtz, Chintankumar Patel, Tate Morgan Schmitz

Publication number: 20250330799Abstract: In some implementations, a network-connected device may receive, from a network entity, a network subscription status update that indicates that the network-connected device is permitted to access a network slice for which the network-connected device has an associated back off timer running. The network-connected device may clear the back off timer based on receiving the network subscription status update. The network-connected device may transmit, to the network entity, a packet data unit session request associated with the network slice based on clearing the back off timer.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2024Publication date: October 23, 2025Applicant: Verizon Patent and Licensing LLCInventors: Andrew E. Publication number: 20250133478Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for a network framework for Wi-Fi barring of network usage that enables network management at a device level, which provides capabilities for the optimization of internet connectivity and data usage based on a user's and/or device's specific needs and priorities. The framework operates to handle information management system (IMS) connections and IMS registration failures over evolved Packet Data Gateways (ePDG). The framework provides a Wi-Fi backoff timer that can be implemented for particular Wi-Fi networks, which can correspond to a Wi-Fi access point (AP). Thus, a connected device (e.g., a user's smart phone) can toggle connectivity to and/or from a cellular network in accordance with encountered failures with an AP via the timer's implementation and network control of the device.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 18, 2023Publication date: April 24, 2025Applicant: VERIZON PATENT AND LICENSING INC.Inventors: Andrew E. YOUTZ, Samirkumar PATEL, Chintankumar PATEL

Publication number: 20240251313Abstract: A network device may receive network data identifying core networks supported by the network device and emergency service data identifying one or more of the core networks that support emergency services. The network device may generate, based on the network data and the emergency service data, system information that includes identifiers of the core networks and indicators of whether the core networks support emergency services. The network device may provide the system information to a user equipment to inform the user equipment about which of the core networks support emergency services.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 25, 2023Publication date: July 25, 2024Applicant: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Hongkun LI, Deepa JAGANNATHA, Chintankumar PATEL
