  • Patent number: 5666627
Abstract: A fixing device comprises a heat roller constructed from a material which generates heat by eddy currents, an induction heating element which causes the heat roller to generate the eddy currents by electromagnetic induction, and pressing roller for pressing an ink material-applied recording medium against the heat roller. The induction heating element comprises an arc-section insulating support placed adjacent to the surface of the heat roller and a conductive line through which flows a drive current which causes electromagnetic induction resulting in the passage of the eddy currents. The heat roller is excited by the magnetic flux provided by the passage of the drive current through the conductive line of the induction heating element, thereby generating the eddy currents. The eddy currents cause Joule heat which heats the heat roller.

  • Patent number: 5616416
Abstract: A color image is displayed by using a display panel with a color pattern layer which is formed on one side of a transparent substrate and has, for example, three separate sets of transparent pixel areas in red, green and blue colors which constitute a regularly repetitive pattern and a set of opaque band-like areas by which each pixel area is bordered. The display panel further comprises, usually on the opposite side of the substrate, either a thermal recording layer which exhibits reversible changes in transmittance with temperature or a magnetic recording layer which contains flaky particles of a ferromagnetic metal dispersed in a polymer and exhibits reversible changes in transmittance with orientations of the flaky particles.

An opaque toner is applied to the opposite side of the transparent substrate in areas opposite to selected pixel areas of the color pattern layer, and the display panel is backlighted from the side on which the color pattern layer exists. A clear color image appears when the backlighted display panel is viewed from the opposite side.

  • Patent number: 5615405
Abstract: The paper feed tray 2 is positioned over the developing device 4 and is fixed to the casing main body 150 to incline with respect to the installing plane 152. The end of the paper in the tray 2 or the front end of the tray 2 faces to the upper surface of the developing device 4. The paper transportation path 3a is provided by the toner case 6 of the developing device 4. The paper transportation path 3a is connected to the paper transportation path 3b which is in parallel to the installing plane 152. Since the paper end in the paper feed tray 2 faces to the upper surface of the developing device 4 and set being inclined, the apparatus width between the manual inputting section 5 and the output section near the output roller R3 can be reduced as compared with the length of the paper feed tray 2. Accordingly, the installation area of the installing plane 152 can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5589867
Abstract: An image forming method includes the steps of supplying a toner onto a surface of a toner carrier to form a toner pattern injected with static charge by controlling the toner mass and amount of the static charge using a toner supply control member disposed in abutment with the toner carrier and supplied with a voltage corresponding to an image information signal, transferring the toner pattern onto a conveying member by a first electric field formed between the toner carrier and the conveying member, transcribing by a second electric field the toner pattern on the conveying onto a sheet of plain paper transported by a transcribing belt, fixing the toner pattern to the sheet of plain paper to produce a fixed image thereon. The method is capable of forming an image on any paper at a low running cost and low costs of apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5365318
Abstract: Stable developing can be made with no inferior image, irrespective of variations in factors relating to the developing function, which affect the developing function, such as a variation in surrounding circumstance, surface potentials of an electrostatic latent image carrier medium and a developer carrier medium or the like. When surface potential sensors serving as a means for detecting a factor relating to the developing function detect variations in the surface potentials of latent image carrier medium or developer carrier medium, voltages applied from power sources, to conductivity regulating member, developer carrier medium and electrically conductive developer supply member are controlled so that the volume of the developer sticking to the electrostatic latent image carrier medium is maintained to be constant.

  • Patent number: 5170213
Abstract: A developer unit includes a porous conductive resilient member which rotates while partly contacting a developer holder to charge a non-magnetic single component developer and to supply it to the surface of the developer holder. A conductive constraining member forms a uniform thin layer of developer on the developer holder and also charges the developer to a given level. A developing bias voltage is applied to the developer holder via a rotatable fibrous charging member to cause the developer to fly to an image area of an electrostatic latent image formed on a latent image carrier which is disposed in opposing relationship with the developer holder with a gap therebetween. The bias voltage is also applied to the constraining member and to the charging member.
