    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a method of providing personalized customer service is provided. The method includes receiving purchase information from purchases made from a merchant using a financial card affiliated with the merchant. The financial card has an associated financial account and an RFID device coupled thereto. The RFID device stores identification data identifying the customer and/or the financial account. The purchase information includes an identification of items purchased during the purchases. The method further includes causing the received purchase information to be stored in storage separate from the card as purchase history information associated with the financial account. The method includes reading the identification data from the RFID device using an RFID reading device, identifying the financial account based on the identification data, and retrieving from storage the stored purchase history information.

The system consists of a transmitting device, where the transmitting device is capable of being attached to a financial card product and transmitting a pulsed electromagnetic signal. The system also consists of a separate receiving device, where the receiving device comprises a sensor for detecting the electromagnetic signal, logic for processing the electromagnetic signal, and an alarm circuit such that the receiving device actuates the alarm circuit when the sensor senses that the receiving device is moved away from the transmitting device for longer than a predetermined time.

If the customer is a member of a program offered by the merchant, then an indication is provided of the customer's membership to the merchant. If the customer is not a member of a program offered by the merchant, then the request is forwarded for authorization.

The card may include a storage system that stores a monetary value. The selected customer identification code may also be stored in the storage system. The card may be activated for usage. The card may be received from the customer for a purchase, and the customer identification code may be read from the storage system. A code may be received from the customer and compared with the customer identification code read from the storage system. If the code received from the customer matches the customer identification code, the monetary value stored by the storage system may be reduced by an amount associated with the purchase.
