Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of making compounds having affinity for the 1 A subtype of the serotonin receptor, i.e. 5HT1A. The method of the present invention provides advantages over the known methods of synthesis. The compounds obtained by the method of the invention have use in therapeutic methods. The compounds of the invention may also optionally compose a moiety suitable for detection by an in vivo imaging procedure and as such these compounds have use in in vivo imaging methods. The compounds have particular use in the treatment and diagnosis of various neurological and/or psychiatric disorders.

Abstract: The present invention relates to radiodiagnostic compounds, methods of making those compounds, and methods of use thereof as imaging agents for preferably a HA serotonin 5-HT1A receptor for use in PET or SPECT, preferably PET. Compositions comprising an imaging-effective amount of radiolabeled compounds are also disclosed. The present invention also relates to non-radiolabeled compounds, methods of making those compounds, and methods of use thereof to treat various neurological and/or psychiatric disorders.

Abstract: The present invention claims fluoro- & iodo-containing aldehydes as ALDH substrates for use as diagnostic imaging agents or as therapeutic agents. The aldehydes are both directly and indirectly attached to an aromatic or a straight chain ring. ALDH activity was monitored either by the formation of acid-product or consumption of aldehyde substrates.
