  • Publication number: 20040221884
Abstract: An auto-collapsible umbrella has a control unit installed in a handle, a folding unit provided at a top of an intermediate tube, and an unfolding unit provided beneath a top hub. For opening the umbrella, the intermediate tube and an outer tube are pushed upwards and positioned to compress an ejection spring and a return spring. Thereafter, the control unit is pressed to release the ejection spring between an intermediate hub and a lower hub to unfold ribs of the umbrella. For folding the umbrella, the control unit is pressed further to release the return spring to retract the outer tube, the intermediate hub, the lower hub and the intermediate tube and fold the ribs.

  • Patent number: 6341873
Abstract: An umbrella with an illumination device is disclosed. The illumination device has a top illumination assembly on the top end of the shaft, a tip illumination assembly on the free end of each rib and a control assembly to provide electricity to each illumination assembly. The top illumination assembly comprises a transparent connecting tube, a transparent tubular member, an internal wall integrally formed in the tubular member, an LED received in the tubular member and two electrical wires connected to the LED. The tip illumination assembly comprises a transparent tip, a conical hole defined in the tip, an LED and two branch electrical wires connected to the LED. The control assembly comprises a control unit in the shaft, an electrical connecting unit and two main electrical wires connected between the control unit and the electrical connecting unit. By such an arrangement, the illumination device can provide good illumination to increase the safety of using the umbrella.

  • Patent number: 6267481
Abstract: An illumination assembly for an umbrella has a transparent tubular member, a sleeve detachably mounted on the tubular member, an LED with two legs securely received in the sleeve and a control unit mounted in the sleeve to provide electricity to the LED. The tubular member has a longitudinal central hole and a conical division wall integrally formed in the central hole. The LED faces the conical division wall of the tubular member. By such an arrangement, the illumination from the LED can be reflected repeatedly by the conical division wall of the tubular, and the transparent tubular member can become into a lighting member with the light of the LED. This can improve the illumination effect to other people to increase the safety of using the umbrella.

  • Patent number: 5323798
Abstract: A flashing umbrella allowed to emit flashing light on rainy, dark day has a tubular handle connected to a hollow rod which is further connected to an upper tube. An upper collar is engaged at the upper periphery of the rod having a plurality of ribs pivotally extending therefrom. A plurality of LEDs each is installed at the end of a corresponding rib. The tubular handle has a circuit board and a battery installed therein for providing electrical pulses from the circuit board. A button switch is installed on the tubular handle for controlling the ON/OFF of the circuit board. A positive electrical line and a negative electrical line extend from the circuit board and elongate upward inside the rod and each having a plurality of branches each extending therefrom to electrically connect a corresponding LED, thereby transmitting the electrical pulses from the circuit board to the LEDs and enable the latter to flash.

  • Patent number: 5309933
Abstract: There is disclosed a one-hand openable and closable umbrella which does not cause relative rotational movement and displacement between an inner shaft and an outer shaft. The inner shaft has a U-shaped groove extending in the lengthwise direction thereof and the outer shaft has a convex block provided inside a lower nest mounted on the top of the outer shaft. By the engagement of the convex block of the outer shaft with the U-shaped groove of the inner shaft, the inner and outer shaft neither turn nor displace relative to each other when the latter slides on the latter. Moreover, since a plastic sleeve is put on the upper end portion of the inner shaft inside a spring mounted thereon, any frictional force between the spring and the inner shaft and between the spring and an upper nest can be decreased, by which the umbrella can be smoothly opened and closed.
