    Abstract: In one aspect of the present invention, a method for managing communications in a sensor network will be described. A coordinator device receives charging interval data from an energy harvesting sensor device. A sleeping interval for the sensor device is determined. A beacon frame is transmitted from the coordinator device to one more sensor devices in a network. The timing of the transmission is based at least in part on the sleeping interval data. The beacon frame may contain requests, commands or other data designated specifically for the sensor device. Various other aspects of the invention relate to the sensor device, the coordinator device and/or their operations.

    Abstract: Time synchronization in a wireless communication system comprises transmitting a synchronization frame from a transmitter to a receiver over a wireless communication medium. The synchronization frame includes a timestamp indicating the transmitter local time when a symbol at a predefined position of the synchronization frame is placed on the wireless communication medium for transmission. The synchronization frame is received at the receiver which determines a receiving time comprising the receiver local time when said symbol of the synchronization frame was received at the physical layer of the receiver. Time synchronizing is performed by determining a difference between said timestamp and said receiving time, and adjusting the receiver local time based on said difference to time synchronize the receiver with the transmitter.

Progressive transmission data rate adaptation is performed on original uncompressed video pixel information. The progressive transmission data rate adaptation is performed on selected pixel information to obtain a rate-reduced pixel information. The rate-reduced pixel information requires a lower transmission data rate than the original frame. The rate-reduced pixel information is transmitted over the wireless communication medium to the wireless receiver device. At the receiver, a reverse operation is performed to recover the original uncompressed video pixel information.

    Abstract: A method and system of radio frequency (RF) power transmission among multiple wireless stations is provided. Control signals for switching a receiving station between a power reception mode and a data reception mode are generated. The control signals provide switching information about which of the modes to switch to, and timing of the switching. In the data reception mode, the receiving station processes an RF transmission from a sending station as a data communication. In the power reception mode the receiving station processes the RF transmission as energy radiation for powering the receiving station. One type of control signal for power mode switching is generated at the MAC layer of a receiving station and sent to the PHY layer of that station for power mode switching. Another type is RTS/CTS control signal exchanged between the sending and receiving stations.
