    Abstract: The present invention involves a fabrication of plastic-tube-screen-fill (PTSF) injection mold fabricating PTSFs using molten plastics injection molding machine. The PTSFs replace PVC-film-fills currently using in water evaporative cooling towers. The PTSFs have a higher water cooling efficiency compared to the efficiency of the PVC-film-fills and therefore the PTSFs reduce the operation and construction expenses of the cooling tower, and also the PTSFs reduce the production of plastic wastes due to the utilizing of high cooling efficient media in the cooling towers. In order to commercialize the PTSFs, a manufacturing tool of the PTSFs to fabricate a low-cost plastic-tube-screen-fill is needed. To achieve this end, the PTSF injection mold is invented by comprising four partial-molds, which is operated in three dimensional disassembling and reassembling processes using a vertical injection molding machine.

The plastic-tube-screen-fill consists of several plastic tubes suspended to between top and bottom ring-shaped hole perforated frames in the shape of a rectangular thin plate as a vertical string screen. The top and bottom ring-shaped hole perforated frames are in same configuration to be used in two ways and fabricated by assembling a cup-shaped hole perforated frame and tube-holder-frame. The tube-holder-frame is a male push-fit band connector with several short solid rods positioned and fixed on band for push-fitting into the cup-shaped holes on the cup-shaped hole perforated frame. The solid rod on tube-holder-frame has a male push-fit connector on its lower part to be push-fitted into one edge of tube. The tubes used in the present invention are spiral corrugated tubes. Fabrication and assembling method of perforated frames, tube-holder-frames, and spiral corrugated tubes are described in this invention.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a fabrication of rectangular shape string-thick-plate and square columnar string-thick-plate pack fabricated by joining a multiplicity of string-thick-plates for use as fill media in cooling towers. The string-thick-plate consists of two vertical-string-screens, on both sides of plate, fabricated by winding one long string over semicircular holes on the top and bottom frames of the string-thick-plate. Intervals between adjacent strings of the vertical-string-screens are designed to preserve a maximum optimized surface area of the strings being able to obtain a maximum cooling efficiency of the string-thick-plate pack. The string-thick-plates are designed to be assembled into upright and tilted string-thick-plate packs, which are installed uprightly and slantly in cross- and counter-current cooling towers, respectively. The string-thick-plates of the present invention tremendously reduce the fabrication cost of a large square columnar string fill pack in one structure.

    Abstract: The present invention involves an evaporative chiller using a plate type string-screen-fill heat exchanger which is formed of a multiplicity of plate type string-screen-fills with string screens on their both sides. The hot water sprayed on the top perforated plate of the heat exchanger is imbibed into holes on the top plate by surface tension of strings suspending over the holes and then flows down on the surface of strings. During its flowing down on the surface of strings, the water is cooled through evaporation and convection mechanisms of water by contacting with air traveling transversely or slantly through the strings by means of a forced draft. The construction cost and electric consumption saving of the present invention are less than half cost of the current chiller and more than 30%, respectively. The fabrication method of the plate string-screen-fill heat exchanger is described in the present invention.

    Abstract: The present invention involves an evaporative cooling fan including air cooling and vapor removal heat exchangers using string heat exchanger fabricated with string-screen-fill packs, which are formed of a multiplicity of string-screen-fill with string screens on both sides. The air cooling heat exchanger cools hot air by contacting with cold water and vapor removal heat exchanger condenses vapor by contacting with cold water. Using such cooling or condensing function of the string heat exchanger, vapor removable and non-removable evaporative cooling fans are invented in the present invention. The vapor non-removable cooling fan is preferred to be operated in environmentally open area and the vapor removable cooling fan is operated in any places. Both evaporative cooling fans have an advantage to be operated in the high humid area. In the present invention, the fabrication methods of vapor removable and non-removable evaporative cooling fans are described.
