  • Publication number: 20050017934
Abstract: A pixel circuit in an organic light emitting device capable of realizing high gradation representation by self-compensating a threshold voltage, and a method for driving the same. The pixel circuit includes an electroluminescent element for emitting light in response to an applied driving current. A first transistor delivers a data signal voltage in response to a current scan line signal. A second transistor generates a driving current to drive the electroluminescent element in response to the data signal voltage. A third transistor connects the second transistor in the form of a diode in response to a current scan signal to self-compensate the threshold voltage of the second transistor. A capacitor stores the data signal voltage delivered to the second transistor. A fourth transistor delivers a power supply voltage to the second transistor in response to a current light-emitting signal.

  • Publication number: 20040217925
Abstract: In a pixel circuit of an organic EL display device, a gate of a driving transistor is coupled to a gate of a compensating transistor, which is configured to operate as a diode. A precharge voltage is applied to the gate of the driving transistor while a selection signal is applied to a previous scan line, so that the compensating transistor is biased in a forward direction to apply a data voltage on the gate of the drive transistor. The driving transistor may be electrically isolated from the organic EL element (OLED) while precharging, so as to prevent the OLED from emitting a light using the precharge voltage. In addition, the driving transistor may be electrically isolated from the OLED while the data voltage is being charged, so as to prevent the OLED from emitting a light.

  • Patent number: 5774103
Abstract: In a method for driving a matrix liquid crystal display (LCD), whereby the selection ratio of a scanning electrode is improved and the voltage magnitude variation is considerably reduced, the scanning electrode driving signals are made to overlap each other according to an orthogonal function to then be sequentially applied to adjacent scanning electrodes. The data electrode driving signals are made to change in their voltage level through the step of maintaining an intermediate voltage level in the overlap interval to then be applied to data electrodes in the alternative, or the scanning electrode driving signals having opposite polarity are periodically applied to adjacent scanning electrodes. Therefore, the selection ratio of scanning electrodes are improved and the generation of the waveform differential is minimized, thereby reducing the crosstalk generated in a picture.
