  • Patent number: 6773140
Abstract: A lighting unit of a tent includes lamps, wires provided for connecting the lamps to power, and holding trenches formed along lower sides of upper rod portions of a supporting frame of the tent. Each of the holding trenches is made to have a slot narrower than a middle room thereof, and the lamps have a diameter bigger than width of the slot so as not to fall down when held in the trenches. Thus, the lamps are hidden in the holding trenches to not badly affect appearance of the tent. And, light emitting diodes can be used as the lamps to help make the tent attractive.

  • Patent number: 6666224
Abstract: A beach umbrella with lamps is provided with receiving trenches lengthwise on each of the ribs thereof, and the ribs each has several spaced through holes communicating with the trench. Several of the lamps are each connected to one of branches of a conductive wire. The wires are placed along the ribs, and the branches are each passed through one of the through holes with the wires and the lamps being arranged on two opposing sides of the ribs; when the trenches are formed on bottom of ribs, the lamps can be closely received in the trenches with most of the weight being supported by the wires held on the ribs, therefore the same can't possibly fall off even when the umbrella is being stretched or folded.

  • Patent number: 6616129
Abstract: A hoisting device for spreader supporting slide member of a sunshade includes first and second ratchet combinations each including a first ratchet, and a second turning ratchet. The ratchet combinations are positioned to face two opposite sides of the sunshade shank with the second ratchets being positioned between corresponding first ratchets and the shank. The ratchet combinations are biased towards the shank with springs. A shaft is passed through the shank plus the ratchet combinations, and is joined to a handle for effecting rotation thereof. The shaft is joined to a reel, which contacts the second ratchets at two end disk portions. Friction of the second ratchets against the end disk portions counteracts gravity on the slide member to prevent the sunshade from unwontedly folding from spread position once the sunshade is spread.

  • Publication number: 20020139405
Abstract: A sunshade frame has an upper support member secured to a top end of a shank; the ribs of the frame are each pivoted to a corresponding one of longitudinal trenches of the upper support member from an inner end. The frame has a lower support member movably connected to the shank, and spreader rods pivoted to the lower support member from inner ends; the spreader rods are each pivoted to a corresponding one of the ribs by means of a pivotal pin from an outer end with an elastic member disposed in between to prevent the connection from getting loose in case the pivotal pin is too long for the width of same. The upper, and the lower support members have an upper, and a lower confining rim respectively to prevent the ribs and the spreader rods from pivoting beyond same to a wrong position.

  • Publication number: 20020139404
Abstract: An unfolding hoister of a sunshade has a steel rope connected to a movable support member of the sunshade; the spreader rods of the sunshade are pivoted to the movable support member. The steel rope is passed over a pulley pivoted to the shank, and is connected to a turning handle, which is pivoted to the lower part of the shank, from the other end with the intermediate portion passed through a longitudinal hole of the shank. Thus, the sunshade can be spread when the movable support member is moved up along the shank by means of turning the turning handle. The steel rope is substantially hidden in the shank when the sunshade is unfolded, so it is not possible for people to accidentally touch same to get dirtied by the grease.

  • Patent number: 6328047
Abstract: A position adjustment member of a sunshade includes two connecting holders and an adjusting part. The connecting holders are connected to a lower end of an upper part of a shank and an upper end of lower part of a shank of the sunshade respectively. The connecting holders each has a nut fixed thereto. The adjusting part has a covering part, a metallic part and two bolts. The bolts are connected to two ends of the covering part. The covering part is made of plastic or rubber. The metallic part has plasticity and is received in the covering part. The bolts are screwed into a respective one of the nuts. The adjustment part is bent for the sunshade to be adjusted to an appropriate position relative to the sun.

  • Patent number: 5901722
Abstract: A sunshade includes a securing ring fixed on an upper end of a metal rod, a plurality of ribs pivotally connected to the securing ring and tied with a circumferential edge of a sunshade cloth, and each stretcher having two ends respectively connected pivotally to an intermediate portion of each rib and a runner, which is movably fixed around the metal rod. The metal rod has a hole in an upper end portion for a spring and a top rod on the spring to fit therein. The top rod has female threads for screwing with a bolt to secure the center of the sunshade cloth.

  • Patent number: 5482069
Abstract: A sunshade includes a solid shaft, a support rib set, a stretching rib set. The two rib sets are respectively associated with a runner fitted movably around the solid shaft to stretch open or fold close the two rib sets radially disposed. Each support rib of the support rib set being pivotally and crossingly connected with each related stretching rib of the stretching rib set at an end portion of the stretching rib and at an intermediate portion of the support rib. A lower shading canvas is disposed to cover a lower annular portion of the support rib set. An upper canvas is disposed to cover an upper portion of the support rib. An aperture is formed between the upper canvas and the lower canvas after the two rib sets are stretched open to allow strong wind blowing in the interior of the two canvases to escape through the aperture.

  • Patent number: 5184639
Abstract: An improved opening lock for use in a sunshade or a parasol which is housed in a cavity defined on the shaft of the sunshade. The present opening lock has a stop block having a smoothly curved guide bottom at the front end and a bias spring disposed behind the stop block and a fixing element for mounting the spring, and a cover plate which confines the stop block and the spring and the fixing element inside the cavity so that the runner of the sunshade slidably disposed on the shaft is able to move against the lock, pushing the lock into the cavity when the runner traveling upward to make the sunshade open, and the stop block is able to pop out when the runner passing the same and to support the runner in place, keeping the sunshade opened. To close the sunshade, the stop lock must be pushed into the cavity to permit the runner slide downward.
