  • Publication number: 20070254512
Abstract: A light bulb theft reduction apparatus and method of use comprising the substitution of GU10 two-pin socket connections on otherwise standard, common and publicly available electric lighting lamp fixtures for the purposes of rendering them uncommon for use in publicly accessible facilities such as resorts, hotels and motels. The invention further comprises installing non-removable GU10 adapters which permanently render a common light fixture uncommon in cases where GU10-modified fixtures are substituted on existing lamps. The invention further comprises using CFL bulbs manufactured with GU10 bases, thus rendering the bulbs uncommon to the general public but suitable for use with either the GU10 lamp fixtures or the GU10 adapters by owners of guest facilities. The use of the GU10 CFL bulbs in combination with either the GU10 fixtures or adapters constitutes an economical theft-deterrent for CFL bulbs since they cannot be easily or economically used in a traveler's home.

  • Publication number: 20070121347
Abstract: A securing apparatus for holding chamber covers onto a chamber base of a lamp is disclosed. The chamber may provide access to a night light bulb held in place by a clip passing through the bottom of said chamber. The securing apparatus comprises a locking sleeve with an integral check-ring designed to engage a threaded coupling mounted on a neck tube of the lamp. The locking sleeve is designed with a threaded lower end, which when engaged with the threaded coupling forces the bottom of the check-ring to engage the top of the cover when the cover is in place on the chamber base. Only the length of the locking sleeve needs to be changed to accommodate various depths of chamber covers, providing an economical way to adjust the general aesthetics of the lamp by varying only the look of the cover.

  • Publication number: 20070047242
Abstract: A collapsible chandelier comprises a central body and a set of arms with light fixtures at their outer ends connected to said central body by a respective set of connection bosses. Said connection bosses comprise T-shaped pairs of intersecting sleeves; the horizontal section of which penetrates said central body and the vertical section of which houses an end of one of said arms. The ends of said arms are slotted to permit the passage of electrical wiring through said arms and bosses into said central body. When said arms are aligned and said bosses tightened, said arms project in a fixed manner radially away from said control body, and when said bosses are loosened, said arms may be partially rotated to collapse said chandelier for shipment or storage. A positioning notch and nub provide the means to properly orient and fix the arms into position when said boss is tightened.

  • Publication number: 20060283742
Abstract: A lamp and collapsible lampshade packaging, shipping and display device comprising a shell, within which a set of lampshade enclosure panels house collapsible lampshades and an enclosure insert houses floor lamp pole sections and collectively upon which a set of lamps, varying in style and type may be loaded and attached for shipping, storage and ultimately, display such that the entire device houses a complete set of lamps, lampshades and mounting hardware in one space-efficient package.

  • Publication number: 20060283741
Abstract: A lamp packaging device provides a useful shipping and storage container and convenient display box for lamps with collapsible-shades. In a first embodiment, the device comprises a shell with a bottom, trunk and hood. A base suitable for supporting a lamp is placed within the bottom during assembly. A collapsible lampshade is placed within the trunk over which an insert is placed, securing the shade for shipment. The lamp is placed on the base and secured to the device via a tie from the hood to the top of the lamp. A second embodiment provides for nesting of a pair of devices during shipment. A third embodiment provides for packaging of a pair of lamps and shades within one device. A fourth embodiment allows packaging of a lamp without a shade. Simple blank design renders productive assembly of the device, and easy-load features make packing a lamp quick and efficient.

  • Publication number: 20060285334
Abstract: A lamp and collapsing lampshade packaging, shipping and display device comprising a shell, with a hood, central trunk and bottom receptacle, and which further comprises a graphic depiction of the collapsible lampshade on a display panel which may be deployed when the device is used for display purposes, thus making it appear that the collapsible lampshade is assembled and mounted on the displayed lamp. The panel may be permanently affixed in a fold-out manner to the top of the device or alternatively it may be separable from it. In the case of a permanent panel, a releasable holding means secures the panel close to the shell during storage or transit. For a separable panel, releasable fixing means allows panel deployment on the face of the hood for viewing. The device may store more than one lamp and the panel may comprise renderings of more than one lampshade.

  • Publication number: 20060285333
Abstract: A lamp shade which can be collapsed to reduce its size for storage and shipping, having upper and lower rings, and a number of supports interconnecting, separating and supporting said rings. In one embodiment, the supports are separate trapezoid-shaped single-piece supports which are disconnected from the rings for collapsing the lampshade. In another embodiment, the supports are separate U-shaped single piece supports which are disconnected from the rings for collapsing the lampshade. In another embodiment, the supports are U-shaped single piece supports loosely attached to the upper ring of the lampshade at the center of each support and which are disconnected from the lower ring for collapsing the lampshade. In all embodiments, the lower ring comprises a multi-part circular band with a hinge feature linking joining ends of each part. The hinge feature allows the bottom ring to be folded to further reduce the size of the lampshade after collapsing.

  • Publication number: 20060239012
Abstract: A lampshade having an upper ring, a lower ring, a mounting spider and a cover. One or both rings are segmented with releasable end connections. The legs and hub of the mounting spider are releasably joined, at least in part, with the legs attached to one of the rings, creating composite spider/ring elements. The shade is self-supporting when assembled, but its cover, rings and mounting spider may be collapsed to reduce volume when the shade is disassembled for packaging. To assemble the shade, the rings are placed into upper and lower edges of the cover and held in place by ring holders attached along the insides of the edges. A positioning nub protruding from each ring fits into a corresponding socket ring holder on each edge. The rings are press-fit between jaws of a plurality of clip ring holders. Tension in the cover holds the rings in place.

  • Publication number: 20060239011
Abstract: A lamp shade which can be collapsed to reduce its size for shipping, display and storage, having an upper ring, a lower rings, and a cover. The cover of the lampshade is relatively stiff, particularly when formed into a taught cone or cylinder. It is self supporting when assembled, but the cover may still be collapsed when disassembled for shipment or storage. In one embodiment, the rings are placed into corresponding upper and lower edges of the cover and held in place by press-fitting a plurality of fitting nubs protruding from the perimeter of the rings into sockets attached along the insides of the edges. In another embodiment, the rings are held in place by press-fitting the band of the rings between jaws of a plurality of clips placed around the edges. In a third embodiment, the rings are held in place by a combination of the above two methods.
