Abstract: The Instant Messaging capability of an IP multimedia subsystem is utilized to support call transfer service for VoIP users. A call transfer request from a first VoIP user to a second VoIP user is sent to the IP multimedia subsystem in a predetermined non-standard SIP communication. The IP multimedia subsystem invokes Instant Messaging service in response to the predetermined non-standard SIP communication, and Instant Messaging service is then utilized to support the call transfer dialogue.

Abstract: A configurable multimedia SIP client and method are disclosed. As one example, a configurable multimedia SIP client is disclosed, which includes a client user interface, a call processing configuration manager, and a configuration adaptor coupled to the client user interface and the call processing configuration manager. The configuration adaptor is operable to receive configuration information, extract user interface information and call processing functional information from the received configuration information, convey the user interface information to the client user interface, and convey the call processing functional information to the call processing configuration manager.

Abstract: A method for locating subscriber data in an IP multimedia subsystem is provided. The method includes receiving a subscriber location request for a user agent. The subscriber location request comprises a subscriber identifier that is operable to identify the user agent using one of at least two formats. One of a plurality of Home Subscriber Servers is identified as associated with the user agent based on the subscriber location request.

Abstract: A service control function is interfaced to a call segment association in a telecommunications network. TCAP messages are used for communication with the service control function. In correspondence with the processing of information carried in the TCAP messages, a state machine assumes a plurality of states, one of which corresponds exclusively to the processing of component information carried in component portions of the TCAP messages.

Abstract: An automatic marker making system and method are provided in which the creation of a new marker is facilitated through the use of already existing marker designs. A computer database of existing markers is searched for markers that are "similar" to the marker being created. An existing marker is considered "similar" if it meets certain user-specified, marker making criteria. Initially, position and orientation data from pattern pieces in the "similar" marker are used to position and orient corresponding pieces in the new marker. Then, the new marker is "compacted" using a software routine to nest all of the new pieces simultaneously, instead of nesting one or two pieces at a time. The compacting routine corrects overlaps between pieces and assures that the new pieces are nested as efficiently as possible.
