  • Patent number: 10457082
Abstract: A method of making a relief image printing element comprising a plurality of relief printing dots. The method includes the steps of imagewise exposing at least one photocurable layer to actinic radiation to selectively crosslink and cure portions of the at least one photocurable layer; and developing the relief image printing element to separate and remove uncrosslinked and uncured portions of the at least one photocurable layer to reveal the relief image therein. The at least one photocurable layer includes a photoinitiator exhibiting a quantum yield of initiation (Qi) of more than 0.05 at a 365 nm wavelength. The substrate has an optical density from 0.5 to 5 in the wavelength range of 365 nm to 450 nm but preferably allows transmission of from 0.1% to 10% of incident light in the wavelength range of 365 nm to 450 nm.

  • Publication number: 20180345711
Abstract: Laser-imageable flexographic printing plates and a method of making same are disclosed. A thin masking layer comprising insoluble particles is laminated to a photopolymer layer. The insoluble particles in the masking layer roughen the photopolymer surface when the masking layer is laminated to the photopolymer surface. The masking layer is selectively ablated from the photopolymer using a laser operating at a selected wavelength to create an in situ negative. The resulting negative can be subjected to typical UV flood exposure and development.

  • Patent number: 8399178
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing a relief image arrangement, usable especially in the fields of flexography, embossing and heliogravure, and comprising a base layer and a layer of photosensitive material fixed on the base layer. The method is of the type according to which an image is produced on the photosensitive layer by causing selective curing by irradiating the zones that are to be in relief with light of a predetermined wavelength. The method is characterized in that the image is produced in the form of a set of points to which a substantially pyramidal shape is given, widening out in the direction of the base layer (5). The invention is usable for producing relief images, in the field of flexography.
