  • Patent number: 8578361
Abstract: Updating an electronic device using first update agent code resident in the non-volatile memory is disclosed. The electronic device comprises non-volatile memory containing at least one of: firmware and software. An example method includes determining whether the first update agent code is a current version. The method also includes replacing the first update agent code with an updated version of the first update agent code from a removable memory card operatively coupled to the electronic device. The method also includes updating at least one: firmware and software in the electronic device using the updated version of the first update agent code, and first update information associated with the at least one of: firmware and the software.

  • Publication number: 20110287786
Abstract: A mobile coaching distribution system that sends various types of persuasive Content that many include, but not be limited to, advice, reminders and interventions relating to healthcare, physical and mental wellness, treatment adherence, professional development or personal development, over a cellular network. There are three components of mobile coaching: time and place and frequency. The mobile coaching distribution system enables a subscriber to control the location at which the content is received. The user may specify up to a certain number (say 10) of different geolocations. The geolocations are specified by opening an application in the provided mobile client and pushing a button. Through either data or SMS connection the longitude and latitude of the location are uploaded into a server. The server recognizes the phone number or IMEI of the phone and stores the location into a subscriber-specific location database.

  • Publication number: 20110173598
Abstract: A controller in a removable memory card operatively coupled to an electronic device is employed by the electronic device to create a newer/updated version of firmware/software in the non-volatile memory of the electronic device. Update agent code in the removable memory card may use an old/original version of firmware/software in the electronic device to create the newer/updated version of firmware/software. During the creation of the newer/updated version of firmware/software in the flash memory card, the electronic device may be operational. A separate update agent in the electronic device may subsequently update the old/original version of firmware/software in the non-volatile memory of the electronic device using contents of the removable memory card, after a reboot or power-up of the electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20100261457
Abstract: A broadcasting approach wherein pre-recorded content is directly transferred to voice-mail box of subscribers. The content distributed as messages to subscribers are segregated by category, and subscribers can select the category of content they want. Content can be messages in audio form or video form, etc. The audio messages are in MP3 or similar format. The video messages are in AVI, MPEG or similar formats. The content is stored in a content repository. A subscriber database is maintained with cellular phone numbers and the types of content preferred by subscribers. A mechanism that matches the type of content that is appropriate for a subscriber with new content is used to directly select content that needs to be delivered. The present invention supports a process that delivers the content directly into the subscriber's voice mail box.
