  • Patent number: 11958334
Abstract: A heat recovery system for an electric vehicle, including first and second switchable heat sources and a controller operable to selectively switch one of the heat sources into thermal communication with a compressor in a thermodynamic cycling system, the thermodynamic cycling system being in thermal communication with a heat sink; and a detector of a temperature differential between each of the switchable heat sources and a fluid entering the compressor; wherein the controller is operable to switch one of the first and second switchable heat sources into thermal communication with the thermodynamic cycling system when a temperature differential is detected between the fluid entering the compressor in the thermodynamic cycling system and the heat available from the switchable heat source, the temperature differential being such that the compressor is operable to upgrade low grade heat from the switchable heat source to a higher grade heat upon operation of the compressor.

  • Patent number: 10117660
Abstract: A lithotripter includes a motor operable to produce a rotational motion, a first cam with a first set of teeth, and a second cam with a second set of teeth configured to selectively engage with the first set of teeth. The first cam is coupled to the motor so that the rotational motion produced by the motor produces rotational motion of the first cam, and the selective engagement between the first set of teeth and the second set of teeth converts the rotational motion of the first cam to a linear waveform that is transmitted through the second cam. The motor, the first cam, and the second cam are disposed in a driver housing, and a wave guide shaft is coupled to the second cam. The wave guide shaft transmits the linear waveform to at least one urinary tract stone to break up the at least one urinary tract stone into fragments.

  • Patent number: 6854410
Abstract: An unmanned system for investigating underwater regions utilizes an unmanned mothership and a plurality of unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs). The mothership transports the UUVs to and from the vicinity of an underwater region, releases the UUVs into the water, and facilitates recovery of the UUVs from the water. Each UUV can traverse an underwater region, generate sonar and image data associated with the underwater region, and transmit the sonar and image data through the water for receipt and re-transmission by the mothership. A docking system mounted partially onboard the mothership and partially onboard each UUV couples each UUV to the mothership and selectively releases each UUV into the underwater region. A guidance system mounted partially onboard the mothership and partially onboard each UUV guides each UUV back to the docking system from positions in the water.
