  • Patent number: 11919365
Abstract: A method of operating a vehicle climate system when an ambient temperature is below a threshold temperature is provided. In response to an ambient temperature being less than a threshold temperature, a controller is adapted to operate a blower motor at a voltage that depends on whether the vehicle is in charge sustain mode or charge deplete mode. In response to an ambient temperature being greater than a threshold temperature, the controller is adapted to operate the blower motor at a voltage that does not depend on whether in the charge sustain or charge deplete modes.

  • Publication number: 20230053169
Abstract: A method of operating a vehicle climate system includes, by a controller, responsive to a same blower motor request, operating a blower motor at a first speed responsive to a heater core isolation valve (HCIV) directing coolant used to heat a cabin to an engine. The method further includes, by the controller, responsive to the same blower motor request, operating the blower motor at a second speed less than the first speed responsive to the HCIV directing the coolant to an electric heater and not to the engine.

  • Patent number: 11413932

In response to an ambient temperature being less than a threshold temperature, a controller is adapted to operate a blower motor at a voltage that depends on whether the vehicle is in charge sustain mode or charge deplete mode. The controller operates the blower motor according to a first voltage responsive to a charge sustain mode, and operates the blower motor according to a second voltage different than the first voltage in response to a charge deplete mode.

  • Publication number: 20040149426
Abstract: A method for controlling the temperature of two or more zones inside a vehicle using an HVAC system. In one aspect, a method for controlling temperature inside a vehicle is provided that comprises determining a power for a first zone of the vehicle and determining a discharge air temperature for one of the first zone and a second zone of the vehicle using a mass transfer between the first zone and a second zone of the vehicle. In another aspect, a method for controlling temperature inside a vehicle is provided that comprises determining a power for a first zone and a third zone of the vehicle, determining a mass transfer in a second zone of the vehicle, and determining a discharge temperature for one of the first zone, second zone, and third zone of the vehicle based on a mass transfer between two zones of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6237675
Abstract: A method for automatically controlling the temperature of a vehicle seat (14) based on a variety of factors, including vehicle interior temperature, outside temperature, sunload, and user set point. Each of these readings is sent to a controller (30) where they are weighted by a formula to arrive at a target temperature. Based on that target temperature, a seat level is calculated and then transmitted to a heated seat controller (48) to apply the appropriate temperature to the vehicle seats (14).

  • Patent number: 5971066
Abstract: A method and system for controlling a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system of a vehicle to prevent fogging of a windshield of the automotive vehicle is provided. The method and system include determination of whether the vehicle has been recently turned "on" and preventing the HVAC system from directing air flow toward the windshield for a first predetermined time period after it has been determined that the vehicle has recently been turned "on".
