  • Publication number: 20130245798
Abstract: Techniques pertaining to enhancing acoustic effects of music playing through digital signal processing are disclosed. Genre, or style, of music embedded in a music file is received and identified in a digital signal processor (DSP). Based on the music genre, an equalization processing unit in the DSP processes the audio data stream in the music file through an equalization profile selected from a collection of sound equalization profiles preloaded in a memory unit. Each equalization profile contains digital algorithms specifically designed to boost or attenuate audio signals at certain frequency ranges in the audio frequency spectrum according to the characteristics of the style of the music. The equalization-processed audio data stream is then played in an audio playback system with an acoustic enhancement that closely reflects the nature and characteristics of the style of the music.

  • Patent number: 7319766
Abstract: An improved in-wall speaker assembly providing better performance and less intrusion than prior art speakers. The speaker assembly is oriented such that the driver fires vertically, parallel to the wall studs, rather than horizontally and perpendicular to the wall studs. The cone and surround of the speaker assembly are generally rectangular and/or conform to the area available between studs. Additionally, the cone is not attached to the voice coil, but is connected to the voice coil by a shaft which transmits the energy from the voice coil to the cone. In another aspect of the invention, the cabinet or housing includes two housings.

Date of Patent: January 15, 2008
    Assignee: Velodyne Acoustics, Inc.
Inventors: David S. Hall, Chris Kallai, Richard Yoder, Felix E. Stephens
