Patent number: 11475750Abstract: An alert system for alerting a user in a virtual reality environment is provided. The virtual reality environment has a corresponding physical environment that is monitored by a detector of a fire alarm system through an alarm panel, and the virtual reality environment is provided to one or more user virtual reality devices by a central server. The alert system includes a processor in communication with the alarm panel of the fire alarm system and the central server of the virtual reality system and a memory. The processor continuously monitors the alarm panel of the fire alarm system, receives a signal from the alarm panel when an alarm of the detector has been triggered, and disconnects the one or more user virtual reality devices from the central server upon receipt of the signal.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2021Date of Patent: October 18, 2022Assignee: MassVR, LLCInventors: Chris Lai, Steven Daniels

Patent number: 11301033Abstract: Systems and methods of assisting users in collision avoidance in a virtual reality environment include tracking a location of first and second users in a physical environment; based on the tracked location of each of the users, calculating a collision probability between the first user and the second user in the physical environment; comparing a threshold collision probability to the calculated collision probability; and when the calculated collision probability exceeds the threshold collision probability and the first user avatar visible to the second user and the second user avatar visible to the first user do not visually suggest to each of the first user and the second user a representation of the probability of collision in the physical environment, a collision alert is triggered.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 2021Date of Patent: April 12, 2022Assignee: MassVR, LLCInventors: Chris Lai, Steven Daniels, Cole Coats, Peter Rakhunov, Konrad Ogar, Joseph Bretz

Patent number: 11061755Abstract: A method may include retrieving data about the health of a plurality of applications executing in a computing environment. The method may also include determining a plurality of indications of health based upon the data about the health of the plurality of applications, and determining an indication of an overall health of a portion of the computing environment based upon the plurality of indications of health of the plurality of applications. Still further, the method may include generating a plurality of visual elements to be displayed on remote user devices, where the plurality of visual elements may present the indications of health and/or the indication of overall health, and sending the plurality of visual elements to at least one of the remote user devices. The health indications may include both availability (expressed as a percentage) and performance (expressed as time) indications of health.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2019Date of Patent: July 13, 2021Assignee: STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANYInventors: Chris Lay, Cory Steers, Garrett Weston, Shane Cisco, Brandon Dorn, Chad Skinner, Thad G Craft

Publication number: 20200363639Abstract: Systems and methods of unbinding the scope of a virtual reality environment. One method includes the steps of: providing a user virtual reality device to a user; providing the virtual reality environment to the user through the user virtual reality device, wherein the virtual reality environment has a corresponding physical environment in which the users are located when interacting with the virtual reality environment; providing a virtual offset in the virtual reality environment so that the ratio of the virtual reality environment to the corresponding physical environment is greater than 1:1; and providing a user avatar in the virtual reality environment through which the user explores the virtual reality environment.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 5, 2020Publication date: November 19, 2020Inventors: Chris Lai, Steven Daniels, Cole Coats, Peter Rakhunov, Konrad Ogar, Joseph Bretz
