  • Publication number: 20240020459
Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for detecting that a requesting user is transmitting a request to a recipient user to perform one or more tasks with respect to a secure document. The system extracts features associated with the secure document and inputs the features into a machine learning model that outputs one or more probabilities corresponding to a potential failure of the request. Based on the one or more probabilities, the system generates one or more feature modification activities to improve a likelihood of the recipient user completing the request. The system provides the one or more feature modification activities to at least one of the requesting user and the recipient user.

  • Patent number: 9465095
Abstract: A method of collecting information for supplementing a trusted estimate of position. The method comprises: receiving first information sufficient to derive a trusted estimate of a first position; receiving an indication that a supplementary estimate of a second position in the vicinity of the first position may be required; in response to the indication, sensing information comprising the identity of at least one terrestrial wireless source observable in the vicinity of the first position; and storing the sensed information in association with the first position. The method enables the trusted estimate of the first position to subsequently be used to estimate any said second position from which the at least one wireless source is observable.

  • Patent number: 8680716
Abstract: A method of operating a superconducting switch system to protect against quenching in a superconducting magnet circuit is provided. The system comprises a magnet circuit, a main superconducting switch and an auxiliary superconducting switch connected in parallel thereto by low resistance connecting parts. In an initial magnet energisation procedure, after establishing superconducting flow in the circuit, the main and auxiliary switches are closed to cause current to persist in the circuit without further power input. If the main switch quenches, the current will transfer to the auxiliary switch through the resistive connecting parts. Upon restoring the main switch to the superconducting state, the voltage drop through the resistive connecting parts will drive the current back through the main switch. A preconditioning procedure is carried out as part of the magnet energisation procedure to ensure that opening the main switch will establish superconducting current through the auxiliary switch.

  • Patent number: 8629801
Abstract: A method of determining a location of an event of interest by processing signals from a satellite positioning system comprises periodically recording blocks of data samples of a satellite broadcast. In response to a request for a position determination at a particular time, a most recent block of data samples is processed in an attempt to obtain a position fix. If unsuccessful, the method further comprises processing blocks of data samples which were recorded further back in time in a sequence to make further attempts to obtain a position fix, until a position fix is obtained. The blocks of data samples used for the further attempts are irregularly spaced in time, for example more densely populated in relatively recent time than in relatively ancient time with respect to the particular time. This enables the processing resource in attempting to obtain a position fix to be allocated efficiently, thereby reducing power consumption.

  • Patent number: 8622257
Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing granulated powder, such as a fine sugar or sweetener, which uses an auger driven by a gear motor. The gear motor is controlled by a control unit on the front of the dispenser, allowing a user to select the quantity of powder to be dispensed. The apparatus comprises at least one, preferably two dispensing assemblies within the chassis, each comprising a storage bin for the powder, an inclined base, an auger member abutting the base of the storage bin and a dispensing chute. The base of the storage bin is inclined positively toward to the orifice of the dispensing chute, thereby ensuring that the powder is dispensed at a constant rate with minimized dribbling.

  • Patent number: 8561841
Abstract: A concentrated flavor dispensing machine having displacement pumps for delivering between a fraction of a milliliter and a few ounces of fluids having a viscosity value between 1 to 4000 centepoise is described. The dispensing machine includes a cabinet for containing a multitude of displacement pumps, where each displacement pump is realizably connected to a disposable pre-filled fluid cartridge. Each displacement pump includes a stepper motor in engagement with a threaded drive rod that is advanced or retracted by any one of several predetermined distances. The drive rod impels a plunger positioned within the disposable cartridge to dispense a volume of fluid. Flexible capillary tubes connected to the output of each disposable cartridge direct the fluid to a central dispensing area. The disposable cartridge includes an expandable plunger which draws fluid back into the cartridge when the drive rod is withdrawn after a dispense operation for drip prevention.

Abstract: A cabinet for a heating appliance. The cabinet has an integrated viewing window to permit inspection of the interior components of the appliance. The viewing window comprises an elongate transparent viewing member integrated into the cabinet. The viewing member is generally aligned with a burner or burner tray of the appliance such that the functionality and operation of the burner or burners can be viewed and inspected exterior to the cabinet. The viewing member is positioned at an angle relative to both the top and the front surfaces to facilitate the viewing and inspection of the burners through the viewing member and from an elevated position in front of the cabinet.

  • Patent number: 8353079
Abstract: Elevator hoistway door closer device that increases the closing force on the door as the door approaches the door closed position. A elevator hoistway door closer includes a reel having a groove in its side that terminates in a flat edge beyond a breakover angle. The groove may have a first portion of essentially constant diameter and a second portion having a conical helix shape. The third portion includes the breakover angle and may terminate in a flat edge. There may be an elongate tensile element received by the first and second portions and the third portion defined by the breakover angle flat edge, and that has a free end for attachment to a fixed point. There may be a spring for rotating the reel and attracting the elongate tensile element by wrapping the elongate tensile element around the first and second portions of the channel and over the breakover angle and flat edge of the third portion.

  • Patent number: 8224350
Abstract: A method of determining the location of a portable device comprises obtaining identities of wireless communication devices detectable by the portable device at a particular location which is to be determined, thereby to obtain a set of identities. The set of identities is compared with the content of a database, which database stores a plurality of findings, to select one or more findings; each finding comprising a reference location and a set of identities of wireless communication devices sighted at that location. The location of the portable device is found based on processing the selected findings.
