  • Patent number: 9941676
Abstract: A roller support structure is used during wire or cable installation for substantial labor savings during the wire or cable pulling process and for protection of the wire or cable. The wire or cable is pulled through a cable fitting by installing a roller support structure containing rollers onto the fitting. In some embodiments the rollers are removed from the cable fitting after a cable is pulled through the fitting. For efficient roller removal, the roller support structure has positioning and holding plate pairs. By moving the positioning plates relative to the holding plates, the rollers are held in place or dropped from channels in the holding plates. In another novel embodiment, a cable fitting slide plate structure is used to move a cable through a cable fitting. This structure includes a low friction inside bottom surface plane of arcuate shape for efficient movement of the cable through the fitting.

  • Patent number: 9924365
Abstract: A vehicle safety system and method for controlling usage of mobile devices in a vehicle is disclosed that includes determining mobile device location in the vehicle; determining vehicle movement; determining whether device is being used by the driver based on device location; and monitoring or limiting usage of the device based on whether its being used by the driver while the vehicle is moving. An electronic beacon located in the vehicle can be used in determining device location. The method can include monitoring activation and usage of device functionality; maintaining an enforcement list of functionality to be limited when used by the driver; determining if any functionality on the enforcement list is attempting to activate, and if so limiting or disabling activation of that functionality. The method can include generating a device motion/usage profile for the driver while driving, and scoring the driver based on the device motion/usage profile.

  • Patent number: 7909111
Abstract: An outdoor fire prevention system preferably includes an existing roof structure with a plurality of first and second groups of water discharging assemblies. The system may also include a mechanism for automatically distributing water to a target group of water discharging assemblies by selecting assemblies from each of the first and second groups when sensors, located in the roof, indicate that the roof surface temperature, of a target region of is elevated above a maximum threshold temperature. The outdoor fire prevention system may further include a controller that is connected to a primary water shutoff valve in fluid communication with the automatic water distributing mechanism which automatically controls the amount of water transmitted to the system. The outdoor fire prevention system may also include a primary conduit in fluid communication with the primary water shutoff valve and traveling downstream therefrom, directing water where needed.

  • Patent number: 7419136
Abstract: A cable is moved through a cable fitting (for example, a BUB fitting) into a first opening of the fitting and out of a second opening of the fitting. A roller support structure is mounted on a fitting such that a set of rollers supported by the roller support structure is disposed inside the interior volume of the fitting. A spacer is disposed between the roller support structure and the fitting. An end of a cable is then moved into a first opening of the filling, over the rollers, and out of the fitting through the second opening. Once the cable has rolled over the rollers a desired distance though the fitting, the spacer is removed and the rollers are detached from the roller support structure. The rollers are slipped out around the cable and extracted from the interior volume. The roller support structure is then unmounted from the fitting.

  • Publication number: 20070265025
Abstract: A method for exchanging data with a mobile device that begins with the step of detecting a data exchange event. Next, at least one data exchange threshold is identified for the mobile device. An exchange urgency value is then determined and compared to the data exchange threshold. If the comparison is favorable, then the data exchange occurs immediately. Otherwise, the data exchange is placed in a delayed transmission queue, to be sent after a delay period.

  • Patent number: 5689242
Abstract: A tag associated with a device and that identifies the device with respect to other devices is connected to a communication link with the same connector used to connect the device to a source of power. The device connector includes an element for receiving electrical power and a data contact connected to the tag. An electrical power connector (which serves as the power source) has an element for engaging the element of the device connector and applying electrical power thereto, and another data contact connected to the communication link. When the device connector is engaged with the electrical power source connector, the data contacts engage one another and establish a data path between the communication link and the tag. The connection to the communication link allows information to be exchanged between the communication link and the tag.
