Abstract: A modular picture frame backlighting system for engagement into the interior of a picture frame is provided. The modular backlighting system includes a support frame having a top, bottom, and sides with a LED strip positioned along the interior to emit light into the interior of the backlighting system, and thus onto the rear of a picture canvas when the modular backlighting system is installed in a picture frame. The modular backlighting system also includes a rear reflector and a power/control cable for powering and controlling the LED strip and a diffuser to provide even lighting to the picture canvas.
