    Abstract: A utensil for opening and extracting food from a container includes an elongated handle having a first end and a second end. The utensil further includes a pliant blade including one or more features for removing contents from a container and the pliant blade is coupled to the first end of the elongated handle. The pliant blade is defined by an edge enclosing an inner portion. A slit extends from the edge of the pliant blade inwardly into a section of the inner portion and a contoured edge is disposed along a portion of the edge of the pliant blade where the contoured edge corresponds to one or more surface features of a sidewall of a container. The utensil further includes a pull-tab opener disposed on the second end of the elongated handle for accessing and separating a pull-tab from the surface of a lid.
