The body includes a cannulation disposed about the longitudinal axis and extending form the tip to the drive head, a solid thread that wraps around the body and a porous region circumferentially extending about the body between adjacent revolutions of the solid thread. In another embodiment, the surgical implant may include a wedge having at least one porous region that extends continuously around a wedge body between an inner wall and an outer wall.
