Patent number: 10663294Abstract: A wall area estimation system generates an estimated wall area measurement report of a building. Included in the wall area measurement estimate report are multiple line drawings of a building having a roof. Two of the multiple line drawings are perspective views from an angle of view above the building. A first of the perspective views is substantially centered on a first substantially vertical exterior corner of the house that is approximately opposite of a second substantially vertical exterior corner of the house on which a second of the perspective views is substantially centered. The first and second of the perspective views include a line drawing of the roof that is transparent or translucent to show interior surfaces of the walls of the building in the first and second of the perspective views. The walls of the interior surfaces shown are shaded darker than the walls of the exterior.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2013Date of Patent: May 26, 2020Assignee: Eagle View Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Chris Pershing, Michael Rydell, Jianguo Jiang, Arlen Pringle

Patent number: 10528960Abstract: A system that allows the remote measurement of the size, geometry, pitch and orientation of the roof sections of a building and then uses the information to provide an estimate to repair or replace the roof, or to install equipment thereon. The system includes an aerial image file database that shows aerial images of buildings in a designated area according to address. The slope and orientation images are typically oblique perspective views and top plan views of the buildings in the area. The system also includes an image analysis and calibration feature that enables the viewer to closely estimate the size, geometry and orientation of the building's roof sections. The information can then be used to prepare a cost estimate for the repair or replacement of the roof or installation of roof equipment.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2012Date of Patent: January 7, 2020Assignee: Eagle View Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Chris Pershing, Dave P. Carlson

Patent number: 10515414Abstract: A system generates an estimated floor area measurement of a building based on the calculated estimated total roof area of the roof of the building. This is based on a correlation between the size of the building roof and the size of the building. Typically, the floor area of a single full floor of the building is roughly the size of the roof of the building if the roof were flat with no slope. This in effect is turning the roof into a floor to generate estimated floor area. With additional adjustments to area measurements to account for multiple floors, roof overhang, wall width, internal building features such as walls and staircases, and/or obstructed views of the building in the aerial image(s), etc., an even more accurate floor area estimation may be generated.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2013Date of Patent: December 24, 2019Assignee: Eagle View Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Chris Pershing

Publication number: 20180247383Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for determining a pitch of a roof of a structure by analyzing one or more images showing the roof, at least one of the one or more image showing the roof obtained with a camera of a user device and an image not obtained by the user device. The system uses the one or more images including an image obtained by the user device to generate a report for determination of an amount of materials needed for a construction project, the report including at least one image showing the structure and an estimated area of the construction project.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 30, 2018Publication date: August 30, 2018Inventor: Chris Pershing

Publication number: 20180190018Abstract: Geometric correction of rough wireframe models derived from photographs may include rectification of either a 2D or 3D original wireframe model of a roof structure, derivation of metadata from the original wireframe, in-plane normalization of the wireframe, extrusion into a “rough” 3D wireframe based on the normalized wireframe, and correction of the “rough” 3D wireframe. The correction and normalization may be an iterative process based on initial pitch values, metadata derived from the original or corrected wireframe models and defined constraints regarding relationships between roof portions or segments. The iterative process may repeat adjusting the wireframe model until the adjusting converges to a stable state according to the various defined constraints.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 2, 2018Publication date: July 5, 2018Inventors: Chris Pershing, John F. Keane

Patent number: 9953370Abstract: System and methods for performing a risk management assessment of a property using at least aerial imagery of the property and additional data about the property that is evaluated against risk management criteria. Data acquired through aerial imagery includes identifying buildings and floor area of the buildings, condition of the buildings including roof and exterior walls, and identifying other property hazards. Additional data may include property information coming from multiple sources including city and County governments, contractors and insurance companies. The resulting risk management assessment may be used to settle insurance claims and to determine insurance products and premium rates offered on the property.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 2014Date of Patent: April 24, 2018Assignee: Eagle View Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Chris Pershing, Randall Ishikawa

Patent number: 9933257Abstract: A wall area estimation system generates an estimated wall area measurement of a building based on the received roof measurements (e.g., those generated by, received from or found in a three dimensional model of the roof) and a reference distance. The reference distance is a measurement indicative of a distance between a reference point on the roof and a ground surface. This reference distance may be used to determine how for down to extend the walls of the building (e.g., to a ground level) when building a three dimensional digital model of the building to aid in generating wall area measurements. The resulting wall measurements, roof measurements, measurements of areas missing from the wall used to generate a wall estimate report, or a combined roof and wall estimate report including various different identifiers indicating the different features and measurements based on the three dimensional model.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2012Date of Patent: April 3, 2018Assignee: Eagle View Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Chris Pershing
