Publication number: 20200200336Abstract: A system of lighting for an artificial tree or other decoration that allows easy replacement of small sub-strings of luminaries. Each sub-string contains N luminaries, where N is an integer around 10, where the N luminaries are wired in series. Extender cables can be supplied that contain parallel splits so that the different sub-strings are operated in parallel. The extender cable can attach to a master power source that supplies the constant voltage needed to power each sub-string. The exact voltage is determined by the number N and by the voltage requirement for each of the luminaries. Each sub-string has a plug that mates with a receptacle on either an extender cable, or on the master power device. Single point failures only cause one sub-string to go dark. The physical arrangement with plugs and receptacles allows easy replacement of an individual sub-string that is dark because of a failed luminary.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 25, 2018Publication date: June 25, 2020Inventor: Chris Tsai

Patent number: 8992833Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for the simultaneous detection of multiple analytes in a sample. The detection system includes a housing that holds a reagent carousel rotatably coupled thereto. Further included in the housing is an incubator carousel rotatably coupled thereto. The housing also includes magnetic material that is associated with the incubation carousel for assisting in separation beads from reagent and wash solution. A robot, associated with the housing is configured to manipulate at least either the reagent carousel or the incubator carousel and transfer materials therebetween. Reaction vessels hold samples and reaction vessels handlers move the reaction vessels. Sample analysis is determined by at least one laser based detector.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 2012Date of Patent: March 31, 2015Assignee: Bio Rad-Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Lawrence Blecka, Larry Seamer, Sachi Rastogi, Chris Tsai, Nasser Jafari, Ken J. Patent number: 8449687Abstract: Devices, including a wash ring assembly, and methods are provided for the removal of excess fluid or solids from the exterior or interior of a probe used to transfer fluids, for instance, in an automated assay device. Typically, a probe is used to aspirate and dispense a sample fluid material such as whole blood or a reagent. The devices and methods provided herein are useful for removing excess fluid from the exterior or interior of the probe so as to prevent dripping and cross-contamination between samples or reagents. It is also contemplated that, utilizing the devices and methods provided herein, washing and/or drying can be performed simultaneously as the probe is in motion, aspirating a sample and/or dispensing a sample.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2012Date of Patent: May 28, 2013Assignee: Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Nasser Jafari, Lawrence Blecka, Chris Tsai
