    Abstract: Systems and methods for an illuminating status indicator for an image display device are provided. In one example, an image display device is provided including a light source, an image generating element configured to receive light from the light source, and in response, generate an image, a projection lens configured to display the image on a viewing surface, and an illuminated status indicator configured to visually indicate a status of the image display device and extending at least partially around the projection lens. The example image display device further may include a control system in communication with the light source, the image generating element, and the illuminated status indicator and a housing comprised of a plurality of faces, where the housing encloses the light source, the image generating element, and the control system and where the illuminated status indicator is viewable by a user when the user is looking at a face of the housing.
