Abstract: The present invention relates to method and systems for conducting wireless communications. In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a method for conducting communications using a mobile device. The method includes configuring a mobile device having a mobile operating system to communicate with a computer, and operating the mobile device so that the mobile device enters into communication with at least one of a cellular-based network and a non-cellular-based network. The method also includes receiving communication signals at the mobile device, arriving from the at least one of a cellular-based network and a non-cellular-based network, and monitoring the received communication signals for updated data from a content provider website during a period when the computer is in a reduced function mode. The method additionally includes sending a wake-up command for receipt by the computer when the updated data is detected.

Abstract: The present invention manages data link resources in a wireless communication device by managing the data link resource needs of multiple client applications including the creation and sharing of data link resources. If the requested data link resources can be accommodated by the already established data link resources (106), then one or more of the already established data link resources are shared (108) with the application making the request for data link resources. If the requested data link resources can not be accommodated by the already established data link resources, then the data link resources are upgraded (110) to accommodate the additional requirements of the received request.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for primary link packet control using a traffic flow template. Primary link traffic flow template filter parameters can be set at a packet control module. Incoming packet data can be compared against the primary link traffic flow template filter parameters. How the incoming packet data is sent to the wireless device over the primary link can be controlled based on comparing incoming packet data against the primary link traffic flow template filter parameters.
