  • Patent number: 9600283
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for reducing power consumption of processor switch operations are disclosed. One or more embodiments may comprise specifying a subset of registers or state storage elements to be involved in a register or state storage operation, performing the register or state storage operation, and performing a switch operation. The embodiments may minimize the number of registers or state storage elements involved with the standby operation by specifying only the subset of registers or state storage elements, which may involve considerably fewer than the total number of registers or state storage or elements of the processor. The switch operation may be switch from one mode to another, such as a transition to or from a sleep mode, a context switch, or the execution of various types of instructions.

    Assignee: Intel Corporation
Inventors: Ethan Schuchman, Hong Wang, Chris Weaver, Belliappa M. Kuttanna, Asit Mallick, Vivek K. De, Per Hammarlund

  • Patent number: 5793858
Abstract: The method of in-session activation of the present invention gives Telcos the ability to offer callers a menu of call completion services when the call encounters a busy or no-answer condition. It provides in-session activation capability from DTMF and dial-pulse sets enabling callers to activate the services without having to hang up. The method is intended for residential and business end-users with RES, business lines, or PBX lines.

  • Patent number: 5568490
Abstract: A data transfer device for transferring data between a plurality of digital signal processors in a system utilizing time division multiple access techniques. The data transfer device includes a system controller coupled to a bus network, a plurality of dual port random access memories, and a direct memory access controller. Each dual port random access memory device includes a first input/output port coupled to one of the plurality of digital signal processors, and a second input/output port coupled to the bus network. Each of the plurality of digital signal processors can access the dual port random access memory device coupled thereto during a first predefined time within a TDMA cycle. During a second predefined time period within the same TDMA cycle, the direct memory access controller, under control of the system controller, transfers data directly between the dual port random access memory devices.
