  • Publication number: 20040176548
Abstract: A thermoplastic elastomer. It is produced by impregnating a heat resistant polycondenzation copolymer containing soft segments with acrylate monomers and radical initiators and polymerizing the monomers inside the pellets. By incorporating a cross-linked polyacrylate phase into a block-elastomer based on an engineering polymer, such as polyester, polyamide or polyurethane, softer compounds having excellent heat and oil resistance are obtained.

  • Patent number: 6566570
Abstract: A process for producing an unsaturated cyclic compound, comprising the steps of hydrochlorinating a terpene to produce a hydrochlorinated terpene, and subjecting the hydrochlorinate terpene to elimination of hydrogen chloride to form an unsaturated cyclic compound. The terpene is preferably &agr;-pinene, &bgr;-pinene, camphene or suitable turpentine fraction. The cyclic compounds can be used as monomers and by means of the invention it is thus possible to produce plastics from renewable raw material sources.

  • Patent number: 6294706
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for the preparation of norbornene and substituted norbornene compounds via a Diels-Alder reaction, in which a cyclic diene is reacted with an olefinic compound in order to prepare a norbornene compound. According to the invention a cyclic diene is gradually added to react with an olefinic compound, in order to keep the concentration of the cyclic diene in the reaction mixture as low as possible during the reaction. It is possible to obtain a very pure product, high yield, short reaction time and high concentrations of the exo diastereomer with the method of the invention.

  • Patent number: 5342887
Abstract: The invention relates to a thermoplastic elastomer composition comprising a) a polyolefin and b) a crosslinked ethylene copolymer, the crosslinks between the main chains of the molecules of which have been formed of the hetero groups of at least two comonomer units being in different main chains and at least two hetero groups of the crosslinking-agent molecule being chemically attached to each other. The problem of such a mixture is that the lipophilic thermoplastic polyolefin and the ethylene copolymer to be crosslinked with its polar hetero groups are not compatible. Now, the problem has been solved by forming the crosslinks between the main chains so that either the hetero group of the comonomer unit in the main chain or then the hetero group of the crosslinking agent molecule always is a hydroxyl group, the hydroxyl group always forming a permanent oxygen crosslink bond with the other hetero group attached to it.
