  • Publication number: 20230406114
Abstract: A method for a procedure of connection and disconnection of a vehicle to/from a plurality of electrical lines of an electric road system, wherein the connection and disconnection procedure comprises in response to a disconnect warning and if the vehicle is connected to the plurality of electrical lines, blocking the electric current from the plurality of electrical lines to a powertrain of the vehicle. The method comprises: maintaining the connection of the vehicle to the plurality of electrical lines while the electric current from the plurality of electrical lines to the powertrain of the vehicle is blocked in response to the disconnect warning. A control arrangement implementing such a method.

  • Publication number: 20220274489
Abstract: A vehicle has a current collector for feeding traction energy from a two-pole overhead contact line system, an electric or hybrid electric traction drive, and an electric energy storage device for temporarily storing fed traction energy. A first line branch can connect the traction drive to the current collector. A second line branch, which can connect the traction drive and the energy storage device to the current collector, includes a switched-in, galvanically isolating DC-to-DC converter. Due to a third line branch which can connect the traction drive and the energy storage device to the current collector, and which includes a switched-in, non-galvanically isolating DC-to-DC converter, enables higher charging rates for charging the energy storage device to be transmitted while maintaining the protection system.

  • Patent number: 10046669
Abstract: A vehicle has an electric or hybrid-electric traction drive supported by an ungrounded vehicle frame. The vehicle also has a current collector, which can be electrically connected to the traction drive and which can be brought in galvanic contact with a contact line of a grounded contact-line system to supply traction energy. The vehicle contains an electrical protection system for avoiding dangerous contact voltages on the vehicle frame or on a vehicle part connected to the vehicle frame in a conductive manner. The protection system has a first protection stage, a second protection stage, and a switching element, by which the protection system can be switched between the first and the second protection stages. The first protection stage provides greater safety from dangerous contact voltages than the second protection stage. Thus, a protection system can be provided which provides sufficient safety in all operating states of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6577516
Abstract: A rectifier comprising a preregulator (11; 21) and a DC/DC converter (13; 23) is disclosed, comprising means for controlling the output power POUT from the DC/DC converter in dependence of the input power to the preregulator. A method of controlling such a rectifier by controlling the output power POUT in dependence of the input current IIN is also disclosed. This ensures that the output power from the rectifier is never higher than what the preregulator can supply. As a result the rectifier according to the invention may be used at any power level and any input conditions. The output power POUT may be controlled by controlling the output current IOUT from the DC/DC converter.

  • Patent number: 6215677
Abstract: In a multi-phase AC/DC converter provided with an artificial neutral point a voltage sensing circuit is provided. The voltage sensing circuit comprises three small windings connected to a first common point and to three impedances. In the circuit, the voltage between the first common point of the windings and a second common point of the impedances is measured. The voltage is indicative of the current flowing in the artificial neutral point. By using such a circuit the current sensing in the neutral point can be simplified and the multi-phase AC/DC converter made at a lower cost.

  • Patent number: 5793190
Abstract: As a front end power factor correction circuit in a rectifier a boost conversion topology is often used. A great problem with this topology is the rectifier diode. This diode must be of a high voltage type in a boost application and will therefore have a large reverse-recovery current before it will block the voltage. This current may cause large losses. With the solution according to the invention care will be taken to the recovery current in a more effective way than any earlier solution has obtained. The proposed circuit comprises essentially a boost circuit, where a main and first inductor L1(3) and a main and first diode D1(4) are connected in series from an input to an output and a main and first capacitor C1(5) from an output to ground. A main and first transistor M1(1) is connected from between the first inductor L1(3) and the first diode D1(4) to ground.
