Patent number: 11925156Abstract: Panel for floating cultivation of plants on water, includes parallel grooves at a top side extending longitudinally, adapted for receiving a substrate and a number of plants or precursors in the substrate, each groove extending through the panel from a first top plane to a second parallel plane. The panel includes air chambers at a lower side extending substantially below the second plane, each of the air chambers allowing therein formation of air roots of plants supported in the substrate of the grooves. At the second plane, each groove is spaced apart from the circumferential side wall of the air chamber it debouches in when projected onto a plane normal to the longitudinal direction, each of the grooves including at least two side support surfaces extending parallel to the groove and below the top side, the side support surfaces adapted for substantially completely supporting the substrate in the groove.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2023Date of Patent: March 12, 2024Assignee: CULTIVATION SYSTEMS B.V.Inventors: Christiaan Silvester Noordam, Maurice Cornelis Antonius Van Der Knaap

Publication number: 20220087121Abstract: A floating panel for cultivation of plants, including through-holes at a top side, each receiving a substrate and a plant extending through the panel from a first plane at the top side to a second plane parallel to and spaced apart from the first plane, the panel further including an air chamber at a lower side, extending substantially below the second plane and allowing formation of air roots of plants supported in the substrate of the through-holes. The air chambers include a ceiling into which the through-holes debouch. A circumferential side wall delimits the chamber and a circumferential bottom edge of the circumferential side wall extends into the water when the panel floats.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2020Publication date: March 24, 2022Inventors: Christiaan Silvester NOORDAM, Maurice Cornelis Antonius VAN DER KNAAP

Patent number: 9357714Abstract: Method for the floating cultivation of a plant, in which, in a first stage of growth, the roots of the plant are kept at a distance from a water supply situated underneath the plant. The supply of moisture to the plant can be effected via the intermediate space between the float for the plant and the water supply and from the top side of the plant. As the plant develops further, the root system grows in the direction of the water supply and, in a second stage of growth, the vast majority of the water requirement is satisfied directly by the water supply. This is achieved by way of a panel which floats on the water supply and is provided with holes for accommodating the plant. This panel may be provided with recesses which are closed at their top sides and reduce the area of contact with the water and provide closed chambers.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2010Date of Patent: June 7, 2016Assignee: CULTIVATION SYSTEMS B.V.Inventors: Maurice Cornelis Antonius Van Der Knaap, Christiaan Silvester Noordam
