  • Patent number: 4624986
Abstract: Blends of carbonate polymer, such as a polycarbonate of bisphenol-A, and a rubber-modified copolymer, such as an acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene (ABS) resin prepared by mass, bulk or mass suspension polymerization techniques, provide articles which exhibit good low temperature physical properties and can exhibit a low gloss finish. Such blends are particularly useful in the manufacture of molded parts. Such blends are color stable and can exhibit small amounts of yellowing. Such blends are particularly useful in low temperature applications such as below about 0.degree. F.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 7, 1984
Date of Patent: November 25, 1986
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Christian A. Weber, William P. Paige
  • Patent number: 4526926
Abstract: Blends of carbonate polymer, such as a polycarbonate of bisphenol-A, and a rubber-modified copolymer, such as an acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene (ABS) resin prepared by mass, bulk or mass suspension polymerization techniques, or by agglomerating particles prepared by emulsion polymerization techniques, exhibit good physical properties and a low gloss finish. Such blends are particularly useful in the manufacture of molded parts. Such blends are color stable and exhibit small amounts of yellowing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 22, 1983
Date of Patent: July 2, 1985
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Christian A. Weber, William P. Paige
  • Patent number: 4134936
Abstract: Novel copolycarbonates exhibiting generally improved impact resistance, clarity and flame resistance are prepared by blending a polycarbonate of a trityldiol such as phenolphthalein and a polycarbonate of another diol such as bisphenol-A under conditions of temperature and/or shear sufficient to cause reaction of the polycarbonates.

Date of Patent: January 16, 1979
    Assignee: The Dow Chemical Company
Inventors: Joseph B. Byrne, Christian A. Weber
