  • Patent number: 11918376
Abstract: A module accommodates multiple superluminescent light emitting diodes, SLEDs, 12r, 12g and 12b. The SLEDs are arranged in an enclosure and output respective light beams to propagate into free space within the enclosure. The individual light beams from the SLED sources are combined into a single beam path within the enclosure using beam combiners 40r-g, 40rg-b. Each beam combiner is realized as a planar optical element, the back side of which is arranged to receive a SLED beam and route it through the optical element to the front side where it is combined with another SLED beam that is incident on and reflected by the front side. The free-space propagating combined beam is output from the module via an optical fiber 42 (or through a window).

  • Publication number: 20040247956
Abstract: A method for operating a fuel cell system with variable pressure, whereby the fuel cell system has a fuel cell unit (1) with a plurality of fuel cells, and a cathode (2) of a fuel cell is supplied with an oxidant that chemically reacts with a fuel which is supplied to an anode (3) of the fuel cell. Electrical output power is provided by the fuel cell system from the reaction in the fuel cell unit (1) so as to supply electrical consumers (4). The electrical output at a load level of the fuel cell unit (1) is varied as a function of the pressure, and the pressure is applied from at least one of the oxidant supply units (5) conveying the oxidant.

  • Publication number: 20040213712
Abstract: A gas generation system includes a reformer for producing a hydrogen-containing reformate gas using raw materials, at least a first of the raw materials containing carbon and hydrogen, a separator device configured to selectively separate the hydrogen-containing reformate gas into hydrogen and a residual gas, and a recirculation system. The recirculation system recirculates an amount of the residual gas from a first location downstream of the separator device to a second location upstream from the separator device. The gas generation system may be used to produce a hydrogen-containing gas from liquid hydrocarbons, such as gasoline or diesel oil, for operating a fuel cell. The fuel cell may be part of a drive device or of an auxiliary power unit, in particular in a motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6197365
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a catalytic converter includes spraying a suspension comprising a solvent and a catalyst material comprising carrier particles coated with a catalytically active material onto a substrate having a temperature above the boiling point of the solvent via a sprayer; and forming a layer on the substrate. The layer is thermally activated and is wetted three-dimensionally.

  • Patent number: 6048473
Abstract: A process for operating a system for water vapor reforming of methanol includes a mixture preparation step for preparing a water vapor/methanol mixture from water and methanol, which mixture is subsequently introduced into a reforming reactor in a quantity which depends on the load condition of the system. According to the invention, the water vapor/methanol mixture ratio of the water vapor/methanol mixture introduced into the reforming reactor is maintained at a predeterminable desired value unaffected by short-term load changing operations, to avoid undesirable short-term increases of the CO-concentration in the reformate.

  • Patent number: 5984986
Abstract: The invention provides a process for operating a system for water vapor reforming of methanol in which, in a mixture preparation step, a water vapor/methanol mixture is prepared from water and methanol and is introduced into a reforming reactor. According to the invention, the mixing ratio of the water vapor/methanol mixture is adjusted as a function of the load condition and/or load changes of the system so that a CO-concentration is obtained in the reformate which remains constant over the whole load range.
