    Abstract: The invention relates to a disinfection element (1, 11, 21) with a copper-based contact region (2, 22), wherein the contact region (2, 22) has a large inner surface in relation to the outer surface (6, 12, 28). Through the use of a disinfection element (1, 11, 21) according to the invention, the antibacterial action of the disinfection element (1, 11, 21) is increased to such an extent that the undesired accumulation of germs and bacteria on contact surfaces can be prevented or at least kept to a minimum in an especially simple manner.
